In my workspace, when I hover over a base it either says “open data” or “open interface”
Does anyone know when it will make “open data” the behavior or “open interface” the behavior. It seems kind of random to me. Just curious.
This is a new change that Airtable rolled out.
As far as I can tell, the new UI changes are universally disliked by Airtable’s customers.

Airtable has started forgetting that people don’t use it to build AI tools and apps on a daily basis.
People use it to run their workflows on daily basis.
If the trend continues, it’ll become more and more difficult to recommend Airtable to users.
I’ve had a project recently which went with Teable instead of Airtable as it wasn’t worth it as it used to.
I must agree that AI features spamming is unsustainable.
Having said that, regarding the latest UI changes I’m already getting used to it .
I think the way I asked this question was not clear. So let me try again.
When I’m in the workspace page and I hover over my bases, sometimes the action is “Open data” and sometimes it’s “Open interface”. Here are some pictures:
My question is: when is the default action “Open data” and when is it “Open interface”?

My guess was that if I left the base while editing the interface the action when I hover over it would be “Open interface” but that wasn’t the case. Any other guesses?
So far, has AI been a helpful addition to you in any way when building for your clients? Or, has it been mostly harmful?
Do you think that it can become helpful one day?
My clients have not yet shown a demand for using the AI features. Although I think there might be some benefit from using AI to scan PDF files and extract data from those documents.
My clients have not yet shown a demand for using the AI features.
@ScottWorld I think that’s interesting because I just listened to Howie Liu’s talk about how AI makes building software (specifically Airtable) more accessible to the average person. Where do you think the disconnect is between that vision and the reality that your clients aren’t gravitating towards it?
I guess we’ll have to see how well AI can actually build bases for people. Only time will tell! So far, it seems like people who use AI for coding are only able to get to a certain point with whatever they’re building, but then when they need to troubleshoot or modify the initial code, that’s where people often get stuck.
AI is good at writing and rephrasing.
I don’t think there is enough internal business process content out there to train AI on.
As we get deeper into how businesses operate, AI starts to perform rather poorly.
I have seen many of my clients and leads using AI to show prototypes in my calls. They think it is 80% there. After the call ends, those prototypes are never mentioned again.
