So a big reason I chose airtable was that it had an app, so that myself and my other user could input data in the field. Except now that I've spent dozens and dozens of hours building something with forms etc, I see that forms don't actually work on the android app...!

What's the work around for quick in-field form submission? That's a surprising oversight, and I see people have been complaining about this for years..

Airtable forms work just fine on mobile devices. (You just can’t edit the design of them in the mobile app.)

However, if you're looking for a more robust mobile form that provides HUNDREDS of features that Airtable's native forms don't provide, I highly recommend using Fillout's advanced forms for Airtable.

Fillout is 100% free, and it offers hundreds of features that Airtable’s native forms don’t offer, including the ability to update Airtable records using a formcreate custom PDF files from a form submissionaccept payments on forms, display Airtable lookup fields on forms, create new linked records on a form, control access to a form via SSO or email domains or a list of email addresses stored in Airtable, perform math or other live calculations on your forms, collect signatures on a form, create multi-page forms with conditional paths, connect a single form to dozens of external apps simultaneously, add CAPTCHAs to your form, and much more.

I show how to use a few of the advanced features of Fillout on these 2 Airtable podcast episodes:

On chrome, it redirects to the app, which you cannot open forms in (on android, at least).

It does appear to work in safari if you request desktop site, which is pretty user unfriendly and not very easy to make it quick for someone to access the forms they need..

You are not using the right link. You need to use the “share link” of the form.

You are using the “internal link” which edits the form (which is also the same link for Airtable users who are logged into your system to access your form).

Instead of using the “internal link”, you need to SHARE the form by using the SHARE button, and then use that “share link” to share your form.

It works fine but needs to be done through an interface.

Hey @oreocereus!

As mentioned above, forms should work without any issue on your phone! Do make sure to be using the correct link.

However as mentioned by Scott you might also want to look into Fillout given Airtable’s native form limitations (you can find a comparison between Airtable and Fillout forms here).

As mentioned before—Airtable's native forms should work on mobile if you're using the share link, but the user experience can be a bit clunky. If you're looking for a more robust and reliable solution for forms on mobile, I'd suggest checking out Plumsail Forms.

With Plumsail Forms, you have complete control over your form's design. You can build a single form that looks great on desktop and any mobile device, or you can create separate, dedicated forms for phones and tablets.

Plumsail Forms also offers a free plan with no limits on the number of forms or features, so you can test its full capabilities today.
