I know there was a post from August of '17 on this topic but I don’t see any update on the status…



  1. Is there any solution to this problem?

  2. What is causing the creation of the blank records?

  2. Blank or empty records are created inadvertently when a user clicks to deselect a record, but Airtable interprets this as quickly adding a new record.


This is truly just “watch we’re you’re clicking”. This happened to me a lot in the beginning, but once I realized what was going on I adapted.

When I use the embed form on a web site and add a record to a table that way, it adds the record fine but with a blank line, so if I use this way for data entry, for every record I enter, I will also get one blank line? Am I doing something wrong?

If you just want those blank records to be deleted automatically, you can use this tool that we built. It can be scheduled to run regularly.
