When an automation fails, I get an email that it has failed, but no information about why. It is likely a one off situation but sometimes this adds up and the reason to the error is a mystery. It would be great to have some sort of debugging information to diagnose the problem. There have been a number of requests and discussions around custom scripting solutions pertaining to this feature. I figured I would roll this request into a new thread and update the language in the title to potentially make it easier to find for anyone searching the forums looking for this type of feature. I would love to be able to click a button from a button field and have it immediately start the timer for that record in the timer block. There is an older suggestion here that came before the button field feature existed so does not mention those. There are also a couple great looking custom scripts by @Justin_Barrett here and @kuovonne here, but in addition to these I think there are still use cases for the timer block. I have a function pulling records by merging text from 2 other fields. Then I want to use this merged field as lookup function. I can’t because Function field can’t be Lookup field at the same time. I just wanted to say awesome work to the AirTable team on the development environment inside scripting blocks. I like coding in it even more than using WebStorm/intelliJ, which I’ve always considered state of the art! The one feature I think that would make it even more helpful would be to have a shortcut to copy and paste the previous line or highlighted section (cmd + d in WebStorm). Currently, I solved this by writing a Python Lambda function in AWS that runs every minute. It checks all records for our “ongoing projects” table. For each record, it checks what the current status is and who the current assignee is. If the assignee is different from the one that should be there, it changes the assignee to the right one. This allows us to automatically have assignees change based on which phase the project is in. It would be incredible to have ‘if this, then that’ built into some of the column value types. It’d be good to have a formula that accepts a cell ID as it’s only argument and returns a date-time record showing the last time that field was edited. For example, you could have a to-do list with Doing, To-do, and Done as the options for a single choice field and then a column next to it showing when that field was last updated.
