Hello, One of my tables will be filled by forms. That table has a linked field to a table that, as a primary field, has an autocompleting ID. When using the forms view, it shows only the “1, 2, 3, etc.” (image given), making it impossible to know exactly what is being selected. It would be very useful if: I could choose what column from the table linked on the field will be shown, or The dropdown shown on the forms view could be the same we have when choosing in grid view (image given). Thx!

Would love to see a notes feature included in the field type box. This would allow users to provide more context on the field being used… or the categories of the content within that field’s functionality. I.e. if there’s a multiple select; defining what each selection represents.

Have you ever found yourself asking these questions? “Why did I create this field?” “Why do have a ‘Name - Status’ formula in this field?” “Can I delete this field?” "What’ll break if I delete this field? It’d be nice if we could see where our fields are being used. Perhaps a third tab in the “Customize Field Tab” area, right next to “Formatting.” Where it would list dependent fields! BOOM. DO IT! 🙂

I often use bold font in spreadsheets, such as Excel, to highlight key info. I would like to have bold (and ideally color and font size) options within cells.

This one’s a little complicated to explain in the abstract, so I’ll give you an example: Let’s say I’ve got a table of Students and a table of Classes. The primary key on the Classes table is a number field rather than a single-line text field, the number corresponding to the graduation year. In the Students table, there is a field that is a link to the Classes table, so that each student can be associated with their graduating class. Let’s say we have a student named John Smith who graduated in 2015. The record for student John Smith would have associated class of “2015”, which links to all the properties of class “2015”. Now, lets say I’m on the Students table and want to filter out all students who graduated before 2014. When I hit Filter while viewing the Students table and chose the Class field (that is, the field that links to the Class table) the filter options I’m given correspond to single-line text (contains, does not contain, is/n’t empty) rather than the data type of the primary key, number. For this purpose, that wouldn’t work very well as I would like to be able to filter students based on class number being greater than or equal to 2014. I recognize that since you can link to more than one record, you may need additional logical parameters (any vs. all). But I still think it would be useful.

Beyond my proposal here: Automatic Follower-Count for Instagram, Twitter and Facebook Links I think there’s HUGE potential for “Live” Fields, enabled via corporate partnerships. Imagine a Tracking Number field that live-updates via native sync with FedEx, UPS, DHL, USPS, etc. Or a Stock Price/BI field that’s synced to Bloomberg, NASDAQ, etc. Or a partnership with Salesforce… Google Analytics… Etc.

A very useful feature to have would be the ability to “drill-down” another level when working with Look-Up fields. We use AirTable to manage our company E-mail accounts and Distribution Lists (Distribution Lists are email addresses that contain members and distribute messages to all who are assigned to it, i.e. info@company.com can go to John, Mary, and Paul). Here is the basic set-up between 3 tables: Table PEOPLE contains a list of all employees, and links to EMAIL which contains all email addresses (including distribution lists) Table EMAIL links to DIST LISTS DIST LISTS contains a lookup field to list the names of people on each distribution list. I am running into this problem: because a distribution list’s members can contain OTHER distribution lists, I cannot get a comprehensive list of all members wherever this happens (which is often). For example (using arbitrary email addresses)… say "info@company.com" has 2 members: john.doe@company.com and hr@company.com "hr@company.com" has 2 members: jane.doe@company.com and jim.doe@company.com. The lookup field will only give me “John Doe” as a name as it doesn’t drill-down another layer to lookup the names under hr@company.com. I managed to set-up a second level of “Sub-Members” with some linking (a bit too complicated to explain here), but it would be so helpful to have the ability to look-up a second layer. I know this sounds complicated - I did my best to try and explain in the most simple way I could!
