Feature request It would be great if the expanded record view could be customised separately from the grid view. From a UX perspective, it doesn’t make sense to set the field view of the expanded single record to the field view of the entire table of records. The use case for the grid view is distinct from the expanded record view e.g. I want to see more columns of data in the grid view which may guide me to the record. Since the expanded record is effectively a form view, the layout and default fields should be further custom. I guess this is similar to what Stacker.app are doing but it would be good to have it native in Airtable. ... View more

I have a product suggestion based on a problem where I have a table with lots of start date and end date columns for different steps of a project (fully described in this initial post: Visualising Multiple Dates in Timeline View). Currently with timeline and gantt it’s impossible to select these multiple dates (which you can do with calendar views) and so you have to create a hack to automatically update a new table that has 1 row per stage of the project. The hack ‘works’ but is really awkward both in terms of having to update the hack when adding new columns and also just a bad experience for users who need to jump in and out of different tables just to get to a timeline view. I don’t really see why the timeline view couldn’t take multiple dates like the calendar view does, and if it’s possible in my opinion it would make running complex projects in Airtable much more practical. ... We use Airtable as a CRM and event management. These uses have been accomplished using separate bases but there’s been a growing desire for this process to be streamlined with an emphasis on leveraging the data already in the CRM. Ultimately, what I’m suggesting is Lookup Fields displayed on a Form View once a Link to Another Record Field is populated. Here’s a use case: CRM has a Table containing contacts with contact information (phone number, email address, etc.) and a Table for an event’s participants. The participant table has a Form View. The first field/question on the form is a Link to Another Record Field where the registrant selects their name. The next field/question would be a Lookup field displaying the phone number found on the linked record. The next field/question would ask if the phone number was still correct. What is the proposed idea/solution? Within a Calendar Week View - Similarly to how we can collapse a weekend to only show weekdays, I'd like the ability to collapse hours outside of designated working hours. This requirements differs for each user, some who work 24/hr shifts need access to all hours, but those of us who don't most likely just need to see a configurable 1/3 of the day. What is the proposed idea/solution? I'm trying to use an interface to present financial information; however, numbers are left aligned in list view and there is no option for totals. Even columns that are right aligned in Grid view are left aligned in List view. Can this be corrected so that it allows the option to right align? How does is solve the user problems? I would like to be able to manipulate items on my Gannt view based on milestones. if i move a milestone, i want the option to have the items that are dependent on and succeeded by that milestone to adjust (not just one or the other). in Gannt view, if i move an earlier item that is linked to a succeeding milestone, i want that item's due date to be locked onto the milestone. so the total time i have to complete that task shrinks, rather than moving independent of the milestone. in Gannt view, if i move a milestone that has items linked to it, i want them to move with the milestone- either stretching out the timeline or condensing it.  i want to be able to have some items that are tied to both a preceding and a succeeding milestone, and i want to be able to manipulate from either direction in Gannt view.  in Gannt view, if i change the dates of a master task that has subtasks dependent on it, and if i make the master task have a longer timeframe for completion. AND if those subtasks are also tied to a succeeding milestone, i want the sub-task start date to shift to accommodate the new timeline of the master task, but i don't want the sub-task's due date to shift beyond what the succeeding task or milestone's date allows.  Basically, i want more functionality from Gannt view. this is a great start to project management, but i want to more easily adjust my standard project timeline template to each specific case.  ... What is the proposed idea/solution? When populating automation filters there is the option for choosing a static value or a dynamic value. This would be great to add ability to switch between static/dynamic values in regular View filters... How does is solve the user problems? I currently have a large number of fields used to compare data in 2 fields and flag when something doesn't match for example. It would cut down greatly on the number of fields I have if I was able to use the dynamic setting and adjust my View filters to say if Field 1 does not equal Field 2, then show in this view.  How was this validated? ... It’s great to be able to “Limit record selection to a view” when selecting a Linked Record, however, this means that the number of views gets out of hand quickly. It also means creating views that you will never look at (as they are only needed for filtering Linked Record options). I would prefer the ability to filter linked records by conditions instead. This would add flexibility and prevent the creation of unnecessary views. Bonus points if you could filter based on data from both the current record, and the Linked Record.
