Will we get a way to create automated backups of our bases?
I was pulling data for a report when the outage happen. I explained to my boss why the holdup happened and he looked at me like I was speaking gibberish.
It dawned on me that I’m using Airtable for more and more of the business, but I don’t have an automated way to save a backup.

This is my top feature wish for Airtable. An “anybody can edit” option when sharing a view. See mock-up image.
There a so many use cases for this. I do a lot of videos with our lectures at the university and often I need them to provide me with materiale, comments and feedback to a lot of content. I use Airtable to manage it but I always have to have them writing stuff in an email. I could just send them a view that they could edit they could easily change titles, upload files, give comments or check todos.
It would also be very useful in class for learning activities with students. Like a brainstorm.

I’m currently maintaining dual contacts and calendar events, one set in Google, the other in Airtable. This isn’t ideal; if I make changes in the Google dataset I have to duplicate by hand in Airtable and vice versa. It would be far more useful, much less error prone to have Airtable sync with Google. All examples are mine and real.
My example 1 (access to tables):
I need that to my employees. They need to open the table with the tasks in the kanban for task status change (new / work / done), but they should not be able to watch and change anything else.
My example 2 (access to fields):
There are employees table. One of the fields - the salary. I need people to have access to the rest of the column, but could not see salary.
My example 3 (access to records):
The design studio has several people on several projects. It is necessary that the people would see only their team projects, suppliers. They should not be visible to others.
My example 4 (access to records):
There is a network of orphanages. Each orphanage has teachers who should only see their children and not have access to other children of orphanages. Each director of an orphanage should have access to their teachers and do not have access to others.

As a custom block developer who’s making an app that programatically generates tables and fields,
I want the methods Base#createTableAsync and Table#createFieldAsync to take in a param for Field#description ,
so that when I create fields they’re pre-populated with field descriptions that users can refer to.

It would be really good if you could view Timelines as a Calendar - showing individual days as well as weekends, and if possible add local public holidays as an option. Similar to yearful.io, see image below - I find this so much more intuitive to read (but doesn’t have the functionality of Airtable!)

In the chart block, when I use a pie or donut style, I would like to be able to control how the pieces are sorted. It seems like they are sorted according to some fixed set of rules, but I would like to reorder the pie pieces according to the order of my records, even if it would make the chart less readable. Can you tell me if this is possible already? Thanks

I work with a lot of very big or very small numbers… representing numbers in scientific notation would really make life way easier.
As I understand it, the only way to represent numbers are with integers or decimals (with customizable precision)… or percentages or currency formatting as different field types. Numbers in scientific notation could be stored in text fields, but formulas don’t work with them.
I suppose I could use two fields with the decimal in one field and the exponent in another… but… come on…
