Keeping a log of the magazines that I read, and it would be nice if we could format the date to exclude the day in a “YYYY-MM” format. So the “January 2019 issue” could be read in that format or a user selectable “2019-01” or “01/2019”. My current workaround is just use the 1st day of the month, meaning “2019-01-01” and I just visually ignore the day part. It appears that if I print a Base to PDF, the resulting file has text that is an image, and not selectable text data. Not sure why this is so, as any other Mac app I use to print to PDF, retains the text as data rather than an image. Airtable should fix this. Thank you. ... View more

I would like to be able to choose “Histogram” as a summary option for single select fields, in order to get a quick overview over survey answers. I run the same survey repeatedly in Airtable in order to track product performance (as part of a larger design research base), and I collect it all in one table. I group the answers by survey iterations, and I collapse the groups in order to get a quick overview of the performance over time. Unfortunately, I can’t get this overview for single select fields. I have to use a workaround for this right now. I would ask something like “How was the experience?” and offer answers like “Broken,” “Annoying,” “Smooth.” In order to get a Histogram of those answers, I have to duplicate the field, switch out the words for numbers (1, 2, 3), and then convert it to a number field. Then I have to hide the original field to make it more readable. The first problem with this is that this data does not update automatically when new answers come in, so I have to convert each individual answer into a number. Really annoying, especially for surveys with a lot of answers. The second problem is that it makes the table very messy, with lots of hidden fields. ... View more

We have been watching Airtable for many many years now but have not bothered testing it any further as have been awaiting the implementation of a search box on every page that allows uses to find results from every record, in every table, in every base. Currently in the app, one can only search for a base by its name instead of the search box including all records from any base. Interestingly, I have a business associate who has also not bothered switching over to Airtable for the same frustration and mentioned they also have another business associate who is in the same boat. This is very understandable as it is such a mandatory feature for any such similar service. Surely it would take the Dev team a matter of moments to code this in and allow users to fully test the service before deciding if they would like to inevitably upgrade.
