Having used Airtable for years, I only just realised that the Airtable iOS app doesn’t use the native API when playing back an audio file. This means that audio won’t play in the background, nor can it be streamed via AirPlay. Will you consider using this API in the future? This came up, as I keep a database of audio excerpts, which I would like to play directly from Airtable when teaching in a classroom. I can connect to a projector and speakers through an AppleTV, so currently I have to temporarily copy out the audio files from Airtable to play them using this setup. ... View more

Many column data types has settings, but Linked records don’t have settings. May be Linked records could have some settings in order to Hide some records while linking. For example: I have two tables: Tasks and Projects Now, while linking a project to a new task, I always get list of all the projects, regardless they are completed or in Progress. This seems fine in beginning, but when I have more than 100 projects, it becomes pain. I don’t want to delete completed projects, and there is no way to archive them. So, in linked record settings, we could specify the linked records to choose a view from that table. That way we will get only specific records while linking. In the chart block, when I use a pie or donut style, I would like to be able to control how the pieces are sorted. It seems like they are sorted according to some fixed set of rules, but I would like to reorder the pie pieces according to the order of my records, even if it would make the chart less readable. Giving dedicated real estate to notifications would send a clear signal that the platform is intended for collaboration. Each individual record has an ‘Activity’ sidebar which allows for viewing not only record history but also comments. Notifications are capturing the same thing, but are hidden in a drop-down. This makes them difficult to see do to the limited amount of items displayed and the badge count disappearing once the drop-down is clicked rather than when the notification is read. What I request is embedding a base-wide (or potentially table limited) activity view similar to that on each record summary. This would allow for glancing at table and base changes more easily and could also be a place for table/base related comments that don’t apply to specific records. ... View more

Hi - I have a table, which each has one image (receipts). The PDF quality of the receipts is high, but when I add a box of the image in Page Designer, it seems to drop significantly in quality, so much, that i’m not sure I can use page designer as I had intended. The Page Designer block has a fantastic feature that lets me display a “Link to another record” field and sort those records by a field inside those linked records. It even lets me choose what text to display so instead of only pulling the Primary Field, I can display any field I want. In that way. it almost seems like it behaves like a Lookup field, but it’s surprising how much more control it allows here. An example of my situation: I have a table of Dates. Each Date is linked to a Project. I have a table of Projects. In this table I have a “Link to another record” field that pulls in Dates that are linked to each Project. The problem: That’s all that the “Link to another record” field lets me do. I can’t sort or customize what text is displayed. I can use the “Batch Update” block to sort this field, but it sorts it by alphabetical order, a completely useless order when it comes to dates since it ends up sorting by the event’s Primary field, and not the date. I could rework the Dates table so the date is the Primary field. That would result in the list of dates being in order when I pull them into another table using a “Link to another record” field. But that would also result in a list of dates, and not a list of named events. Not much use. A list of unnamed dates, in chronological order, and a list of named events, in alphabetical order are both less than ideal. Why does the “Link to another record” field in the Page Designer block allow for so much customization, while the same field in a Table, Gallery, or Kanban view doesn’t allow for any at all? ... Hello everyone, I believe the timeline should be able to visualise task dependencies. Other project management platforms such as Asana is able to do so by linking interdependent timeline blocks with a line. Would this be possible by linking a field in an entry to another to show dependencies? This makes managing and understanding complex timelines more doable. Any comments appreciated! ... View more
