Feature Request: Based on this suggested solution. ( posted to AirTable Forum: How to Reflect Filtered Records on One Table to Lookup in Another? ) • In a link, allow the option to use current filters applied to the target table • also allow selection of a view on the target table as a view can retain filter settings. • This would leverage the use of filters to provide a much clearer interface structure and avoid the additional columns and clunky formulas with embedded variables that must be updated on a periodic basis to achieve the same goal. This would be better achieved by optionally enabling the use of current filters on the target table for the link and further enabling the selection of a view on that table. Perhaps there are underlying architectural concepts that I have yet to understand with regard to AirTable. But, the solution that I implemented is not elegant. Yo Airtable Dev! You guys are doing amazing stuff… I’d like to request, as the title suggests, adding ‘weekdays’ as a DATETIME_DIFF ‘unit’ My Use-Case I’m writing a simple PTO log and request form, in the longer view, to track annual PTO usage blah-blah-blah. I know, PTO is so anachronistic… Anyway, right now I use a request form with a begin date and end date query fields but in this case it is also necessary to ask, ‘how many work-days will you be gone?’ Which is kind of weird. I would automate this process with a DATETIME_DIFF() formula field in the log if I could but I’ve not been able to come up with a way to eliminate weekends from that duration. Which could always be user error. Admittedly This is really the equivalent of a function in Excel called NETWORKDAYS(), which if that’s easier to implement, I’m all for that too. ... View more

I love the group feature with its ability to collapse rows into a more manageable view. It makes dealing with large amounts of data so much easier. But right now, when we search for a record and it’s in a collapsed group, that group stays collapsed. It would be awesome if that group could expand automatically. Right now I’m trying to create a view that shows records with last weeks Monday date, so I can add a filter that says is within last 13 days, then I want to say and is not within last 6 days to disclude this week. Would be a useful feature to minimise selection from a linked table’s rows. Example: Our business has subcontractors who become active and inactive at different periods, their activeness represented by a checkbox data column. If they are inactive, they should not be able to be selected when assigning a subcontractor to a service. ... View more

Please make the Expanded Record match the View in use. I use Airtable as a Project Management tool and we use the Expanded Record heavily. Its clunky right now with all the extra fields in there that don’t need to be seen. For us it really keeps us from being able to use Airtable to its full potential. I need to be able to get new people up and running quickly. Currently I have to explain which fields to ignore, etc. It’s just not clean and easy like the rest of your program. I’m trying to think like you here and I figure the least amount of work for Airtable team would be to simply match the Expanded Record with whatever the current View shows. This would solve my issue and for many others who have raised this. It would be continuing your great vision of having Views, which is really the most outstanding feature in Airtable. In an even better world you would have functionality to edit the Expanded Record in any way the user sees fit. First off, what an awesome platform you guys are developing! I’m a die-hard Excel fan, and even use Excel Online. But this is posing to be a real threat to that. I have a suggestion for a field type that I, and probably others, would find useful. Sometimes I like to use little icons (but not checkmarks) as data in fields. Kind of like tags, but image-based. Multi select or single select choices would be cool too. As far as the icons themselves, you could start with some basic ones: a star, exclamation mark, up/down arrows, basic emoticons. I’m currently being notified every time someone comments on a record I’m associated with. The problem is that its a very loose (though necessary) association, and I really don’t need to be seeing every single comment that is made on hundreds of different records – it makes it pretty much impossible to get to the actual mentions of my name (which I do want to see immediately). Would love a way to make it so, by default, I only receive notifications for records when I am personally @ mentioned. ... View more
