One of the most basic and best things I learned about Airtable is how to use " \n " to get the line breaks in a formula result. That makes it easy to format text in columns without need use gimmicks. Excel uses ALT+Enter and this one doesn’t work in AirTable. I suggest Airtable takes the input “ALT+Enter” on the keyboard and translates it into " \n ". That way more users benefit who may otherwise not know there is such a thing in Airtable. If I may take this a step further, perhaps adding formatting options would be neat. For example by adding /b for bold text in formula output. I know this is stretching airtable far beyond what it is expected to do, but here are some marketing folks using Airtable so it may be useful. When sharing in external places like iMessage or Slack that support a rich preview, it would be much more helpful if links to specific records or specific bases/views actually said in the preview what the name of the card or base/view was rather than every link always just saying “Airtable works like a spreadsheet but gives you the power of a database to organize anything. Love the long text field rich text options. Can we extend markdown to formulas as well? Why The usage could extend way beyond this, but my use cases are summary fields using rollups and formulas. I would love to see the option to re-brand a base to show the logo of the client I am building the base for versus the airtable logo. I’m not talking about removing attribution or anything, just maybe making a fee based upgrade option or something - like a new price point for developers/businesses that build bases for other businesses? I would like the ability to color code my table buttons in the UI. This way I could group tables together by color and function. I currently have 11 tables that track different aspects of our business and people access them to interact with the data. I’d like to be able separates these “working tables” from tables I’ll be connecting to Cognito Forms for capturing client entered data. For safety / simplicity, we’ll be adding a new table in Airtable for each form on our website. We’re looking at creating about 8 different forms. I’d love to be able to color the tables that our employees will be interacting with, and assign a different color to the tables that exist as a data store for form data. As a related, but possibly separate request, I’d like the ability to hide / show tables. It’d be really useful if there was an option to bulk update field permissions. I have a growing base with a growing number of users, where I need to set editor/read only access at the field level for each user. Certain blocks require users add an editable (non-formula) field to a table to hold misc data which shouldn’t be directly edited by the user (i.e. the Map Block requires a geocache field). Many Script Block scripts semi-automate or standardize data entry processes to provide a form of data validation or workflow integrity. I think it would be nice if Airtable’s field permissions included a toggle for " Allow this field to be set in scripts/blocks/API" when the field permissions are set to: “Who can edit values in this field > Nobody”. For fields with permissions set to “Who can edit values in this field > Nobody”, there is already a toggle for “Allow this field to be set in records created through forms”, this would work similarly. This will help collaborators who should have the ability to edit data as determined by the script/block do so, but not directly to enforce some measure of data consistency in all the cases where a Formula would be insufficient. ... Short of more granular user permissions (by table, not by base), it would be VERY useful to be able to lock certain records… or even certain fields. We have many, VERY complicated records, that we’d like to use as templates. I want to prevent someone from trying to do their job and accidentally altering the master… They don’t even have to be permission locked…just a button you have to push to MAKE SURE you want to delete/alter it, before you do. ...
