I have the Maps block enabled in my table, but need to be able to search the map with an address and have it show the “nearest” locations from my database on the map. Is this possible? For the card layout in the grid view, you can’t control which fields display or how much width they take up. I am working on an interface design where I have a long text field which gets cut off after a few words, one field that isn’t necessary to display, and a ton of white space which could be used to display more text. It would be very useful to be able to control the width of the fields and which fields are shown (like with kanban cards). As far as I can tell, Airtable does not offer the ability to create global fields (within an Account) that can be reused across all Bases. This is a critical feature if I’m going to create a Field that would essentially be reused in multiple Tables across multiple Bases. The primary idea for a Global Field is to create it once, and reuse it multiple times. Additionally, if I add/remove items in the field (e.g. a Select Field type) then all tables using that field would be updated automatically. I realize I could create a template and then all future Bases could be created from that table, and hence include that field, but this does not cover the field update scenario. ... View more

Hello All, Hello Airtable. You have changed my life! You have allowed a small team that handles $20-100m in grant funds each year composed of 80-120 major projects to come out of the dark ages (excel and MS Access) and increase efficiency, decrease errors, and significantly increase job satisfaction and sustainable work stress. Everyone who uses it is happy, as are our trustees and decision makers. A state agency making this kind of change/improvement in such a short time (since Dec 2020) is a minor miracle. Thank you. But this morning I am dismayed to see a reversal of progress, in my opinion, in a very basic function: The table selector behavior. its now a search, instead of a select. Doh! I spent A LOT of time color coding , arranging and training to be able to get the entire team working within our 49 tables (each member uses maybe 4-6, but they all need to be there, with the first 15 being the most used). I cant get the table list to pull back up so here is a screenshot with just searching for “A”. As the developer, I cannot always recall what every table is called. I really need to have a way to view all tables in order and select from there. This is super critical basic behavior that existed yesterday, but not today. Search function? Awesome! But maybe have that as a top row ‘narrowing’ option (like the rest of Airtable does) instead of opening a blank box? Logic has it that most of us will have our main/most used tables in the first 3-6 tables, so why not show us those anyway? Instead of that fun/demoralizing sideways empty table. Poor thing… haha. Don’t get me wrong, I am happy to have new stuff rolling out. Gantt charts in views and calendaring, for example, are recent updates that have made a huge difference to us. As were View bins and favoriting. (related topic: Tabs now DO follow your click/selection, and the highlighted table appears at the top left when you are there. If I use a Lookup on a field of Single Select, the resulting lookup should take on the characteristics of a Single Select in so much as it should take on the colors of the parent field and be able to be used in a Kanban view. I don’t expect that it be editable but I do expect those other things. Having the lookup field be just text/numeral is too basic. ... View more

Filter Show/Hide Fields by Field Type The ability to filter the fields displayed in the Show/Hide vertical menu from the features bar on a Table. This would work in conjunction with the search functionality. This is handy when a Table has many fields and specific searching for specific field types. Conceptually this could be a dropdown list of multiselect field types OR a box below the search bar that has the different field type icons to select.
