I know this has been posted many times before, but we need a real solution to allow for grouping by multi-select fields in a way that makes all records associated with at least that value shown in the value grouping.  Yes, this might result in one record appearing multiple times in a grid view. Yes, that is desirable.  Notion users know that this is much more intuitive and user-friendly than the way Airtable handles this behavior.  --- Here's a real example for us: We do project planning in Airtable across quarters. Projects may span multiple quarters (multi-select field). What is the proposed idea/solution? I would like to see the added options within a Grid View (and also in Interfaces) of the ability to manipulate the order of Linked Records within a Link field. Options including; Sort Records by an associated View within the Linked Table. Sort Records by one or many lookup fields within the Linked Table (such as a date, number, string etc). Sort Records as per their originally linked stack order, but also add a reverse stack option to show the recently added records either first or last. A toggle option that turns off all sort and leaves the current behaviour as is, allowing the user to manually sort records into any random order they desire. If the user toggles a sort on, and then off again, their desired manual sort order returns (and is not lost).   How does is solve the user problems? A user can employ a Scripting Extension script or an Automation script action to execute upon their Link Field being updated, where their script applies the desired sort order to the records within the field - but such a workaround is rigid and out of reach of most common users. I believe that having Link Field sort options as part of the Airtable UI would be a widely accepted and used feature. Who is the target audience? We have an interface for our project management Airtable base, which shows project data filtered by a record list. As our base grows, the page has grown with it and is quite long, split into useful sections. What is the proposed idea/solution? When using the "Group by" feature, Treat the group heading as a frozen row so that it follows the user down the page until the next 'group' heading takes over, or at least make this an option for users who would find it convenient. If there are subgroups How does is solve the user problems?  It doesn't make the user try to recall what the 'group' category is if they are having to scan several records that fall within a single group. I love Airtable, but this is a nightmare for a person with ADHD. I sometimes have to scan back up the page multiple times to see what 'group' records fall under.  ... How was this validated? ... What is the proposed idea/solution? ...Create a way to watch comments for multiple items / all items by selecting a box, and watch comments for all. Considering this tool is all about automation, I'm surprised there's no way to move filters between tables. It would be very handy to have an option to transfer/export/migrate filters from one table to another easily. Especially useful when using sync tables and you need the same filters set up etc. Otherwise this just creates a lot of additional manual work on top of everything else that can be automated. Edit: I would also add to this idea the option to transfer/sync the views as well, otherwise that can be another lot of manual work to recreate if there's lots of complex views on a table ... What is the proposed idea/solution? Providing Interface designers with the ability to allow/disallow the visibility of the field "i" tooltip inside Interfaces. How does is solve the user problems? Currently, we are using text blocks in the UI to explain certain field purposes or possible pitfalls of user selections. You can really clean up an interface and reduce user support questions by providing them with the ability to get further information before making a choice at the exact moment in their workflow that it is appropriate. Blocks of text mean to help a user perform functions really make the entire interface too cluttered to use for experienced users. Some users don't use the system very often so they usually completely forget and need this help but. Maintaining two interfaces with different levels of "Info Help" is not a viable option. From an administration standpoint, this allows for already existing documentation to now serve both database designers and end users at the same time. Future leaning thinking also implies that there could be two fields for "Description" - each with a different set of permissions so that admins can leave themselves complex backend notes for themselves and their teams yet provide more simple descriptions for interface front end users. What is the proposed idea/solution? ...Add either an ellipsis or a small triangle at the corner of a cell that contains additional data that cannot be seen readily, most obviously in the case of a Long Text field when viewing in Grid view at a short row height. How does is solve the user problems? ...Users might not be aware that important additional content might be present in a cell, especially if row height is short. A simple visual indicator would distinguish between cells where the content is self-evident, versus cells that must be clicked on to see additional content. How was this validated? ...I don't know.
