Omni - Great at hard tasks but can't even create a view!?

I just wanted to comment regarding the AI tool Omni. We are a company that uses an Airtable template base and then we need to create a new base for each event. We recently rolled out a new base and I’m having to make tweaks and updates to the template, but as more bases are made due to more events, the updates are now taking forever with 13 bases to update. I thought a simple solution for views would be that I copy and paste the text of all the columns I want to show in a view and ask Omni to make the view. I was surprised to see that although Omni can make entire interfaces with interacting data, it was unable to make a view in a base, the most simple thing that takes a lot of time to replicate across many bases. Anyway, mostly posting here as a suggestion to make this a capability.

Side note: Each base contains a huge amount of data so no, having them in one base is not an option as we’d need to upgrade access just for more space in one base and not a good option.

Hey @Jasmine_Ruth1 ,

I was curious why do you keep building a new base for each event?

Instead, consider unifying the data into the same base and same table, with a label or field indicating the event name.

You can then create a separate interface page for each event. Either duplicate an existing page or ask Omni to help set one up for the new event.

When I first started working with Airtable, I made the same mistake creating separate bases for different teams. But as I learned more about optimal data structure and got tired of rebuilding similar pages, I shifted to minimizing the number of bases, tables, and pages, and relying more on filters and tabs within interface pages.

Ok, just saw your side note with the records limit.
I would invest in a higher plan, may be save the money paid on full users and switch external users into portal users and pay that to upgrade plan :)

This could be because you can’t create or modify views with the Airtable API. Either way, sounds like a good feature to suggest.

That’s a fair point Omni feels powerful for complex tasks, but not being able to handle something as basic (and repetitive) as creating views across multiple bases is frustrating. Hopefully this feedback helps push that capability forward, because it would save a ton of time in real workflows.

Something I would be interested to try it, download the existing views/pages as CSV and feed Omni with them and see if it will come up with the same template.

Hey @Jasmine_Ruth1,

You will probably want to get this sumbitted as a feature request using this Product Idea form!

If I understand the question correctly, I would just use a synced view. We do something similar, and it works very well. We make changes in one place and it propagates through all of the places where its synced.
