Hey Airtable Community!

We're thrilled to announce that one of the most requested features has finally arrived – Dark Mode is now available for Airtable in a public beta!

Whether you're working late into the night, prefer a lower-contrast viewing experience, or simply love the sleek aesthetic, you can now switch to Dark Mode with just a click.

How to enable Dark Mode:

  1. Click on your Account menu in the top right corner (your profile avatar)
  2. Select "Appearance"
  3. Switch to "Dark" or “Use system setting” (which will follow your general system preferences)

This is available for everyone on web today, with Android and iOS support coming soon when we’re out of beta. If you notice any issues, please submit your feedback here so we can fix it.

Help spread the word:

Share your thoughts and screenshots of your apps in Dark Mode below! If you share a screenshot as a reply to this post by Thursday, May 15th, you will enter a sweepstakes for a chance to win 10,000 Airtable AI credits.* We really appreciate the time it takes to leave feedback and thoughts in our community and are really excited to see what you’ve built in this new setting.

Love it, SO EXCITED! How about some dark mode interface love here, don’t the charts just pop more?

Wow, that’s great !!!
Appreciate the code editor colours in Automations
Wait, what’s that - looks like more good news to come 😀

That’s another great stuff. Before, I had to invent my own coder/decoder to avoid storing secret keys as open text.

I just wonder - will Extensions remain light or it will be possible to make them dark too?

Love it!

A quick feedback: In the data layer, the rows seem a little too dark though (which contrasts with the text too much), so a lighter color similar to what ChatGPT uses might provide a better contrast that’s easier on the eyes.

Awesome, thank you guys!  It’s much appreciated.

I’m gonna have to agree with @Adnan Ahmed, though.  I think the contrast could be adjusted a little bit.  My team and I have been using Dark Reader for some time now to emulate dark mode, which we’ve come to really like (but takes up a lot of resources on our computer).

Here’s the comparison:

Airtable Dark Mode
Dark Reader Dark Mode

IMO, the dark reader dark mode is much easier on the eyes.  Perhaps a compromise between the two would be better?

The team is so excited to have dark mode. It may seem like a small enhancement, but really seems to bring joy to the users.

Without further ado…

@RobertRiglietti: you were randomly selected as our contest winner!

(I’ve sent you a message to get the logistics squared away.)

Really appreciate everyone’s participation here and please keep the thoughts on Dark Mode coming. We’ve been working on some changes to the colors, so if you give your browser tab a quick refresh, you’ll see some changes we’ve made to make some colors brighter. We’re continuing work on this, so stay tuned for more!

Colors in button field have poor legibility

Overall I love the darkmode! I do think there are some places where text should swith to black to be more legiable. Button fields with light colors are especially bad.

Hey @ischwane,

Just in case, you might want to submit that as a feature request using this form. That is the best way to get Airtable’s attention re: Product Ideas.

@Mike_AutomaticN Thanks! I did submit it in the feedback form linked in this annoucement post. I’l probably submit it here too. Just trying get it in front of as many eyeballs as posible since its an accessability issue for our end users.

Yes feedback form should also work, but I’m not sure how much that is being tracked (hopefully it is!)

I recently enabled dark mode on my Android mobile device (Z Fold6) and I really like it. However, there appears to be a bug with long text fields. When I try to edit a long text field, the text color is black with a black background.
