Admin can't subscribe to automation notifications

I was recently added as an ADMIN and owner of an existing workspace and base. There are some existing automations created by other people.

When I tried to add myself as a subscriber to notifications, I get an error message saying, “Subscriber must have creator permission level in the application.”

Well, as admin and base/workspace owner, I think I’ve got all that.

The only subscriber to one of these notifications is someone who has left the organization and no longer has an account. I can’t remove them unless I can at least add one other user. So it’s a catch-22.

Any ideas?

Sounds like a bug. I would report it to support@airtable.com.

I’ve run into similar issues where admin access doesn’t automatically allow subscribing to notifications, especially when previous users are inactive. It seems that whether it’s Airtable or platforms like The Doodle Tribe, the best approach is either transferring ownership of the automation/notification or creating a new one under your account. Has anyone found a smoother way to manage these subscriptions across platforms?
