We created a view for a dashboard that is a calendar that populates who is ending on what date throughout the month. However, now we would like to add an additional button where we could click it, and an automated email will go to the trainee and the mentor 30 days before the end date is to make sure they are actually departing on that date. How would we start building that?
+11Hey! This is a great use case for an automation 😊 but rather than relying on someone to click a button at the right time, I’d actually recommend building an automation that checks the trainee’s end date and sends the email automatically when they’re 30 days out.
At a high level, you’d want to:
Use the trainee’s End Date as your trigger point (with the trigger being “When a record matches a condition”)
Set the condition to when the End Date is 30 days away
Add a Send email action (learn more about that action here)
Pull in the trainee’s email and mentor’s email as recipients
Include any relevant record details in the message (like the planned end date, and a request to confirm whether it’s still accurate
You could still add a button if you want a manual option as well, but for the 30-day reminder itself, I’d automate it so no one has to remember to trigger it 🧠 Feel free to reply if you have any follow-up questions!
