Hi,

I’m being asked to reseach wether its possible to sync filenames and links to files in a Sharepoint document library to an Airtable project.  It need to only sync filenames NOT the actual data.  Does anyone know if this is feasible?

Thanks

This is something you can do and you only sync the metadata!

The best approach is to use Make or Zapier to connect SharePoint to Airtable.  Just set up an automation that watches your SharePoint document library for new or updated files.  It then writes the filename and direct file URL into an Airtable field.  Airtable has a URL field type that will work perfectly to store SharePoint links.

Make has a SharePoint module that can periodically pull the file list and sync it across- this can be useful if the library is large or changes frequently.  You can run it on a schedule rather than in real-time.

The thing to confirm on the SharePoint side is that the files are accessible through a shareable link- if permissions are locked down, URLs might not be usable outside of SharePoint.

Yes, as mentioned above, your #1 best bet for this is to use Make’s Sharepoint modules in conjunction with Make’s Airtable modules.

If you’ve never used Make before, I’ve assembled a bunch of Make training resources in this thread. For example, here is one of the ways that you can instantly trigger a Make automation from Airtable.

Hope this helps!
