Outlook Calendar Invite for All Day Event

Hi there - has Airtable solved how to mark an Outlook calendar invite for an all day event that’s marked as “Free” instead of “Busy”?

We’ve got PTO invites created via Airtable form, and an Airtable automation creatives an Outlook calendar invite that CC’s a specific set of recipients based on teammates the person is working on projects with. However when the invite comes through Outlook, it’s marked as “Busy” instead of “Free”, blocking everyone’s day.

This has been a pain point forever, and I’d like to do this in Airtable natively, rather than using third-party plugins.

I don’t think so I’m afraid.  The only workaround I can think of without third party plugins involves using the Run Script action?  Haven’t done that before myself but should be possible based on the docs: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/graph/api/user-post-events

Might want to submit it as a feature request!

@Sabdy

You can’t do that natively with Airtable, but you may want to submit that as a feature request on the product feedback page.

However, note that you can very easily solve your problem by using Make’s Microsoft Outlook Calendar integrations in conjunction with Make’s Airtable integrations.

If you’ve never used Make before, I’ve assembled a bunch of Make training resources in this thread.

For example, here is one of the many different ways that you can instantly trigger a Make automation from Airtable. You can even instantly trigger a Make automation by having a button or URL link trigger a custom webhook (with optional webhook response).

I give live demonstrations of how to use Make in many of my Airtable podcast appearances.

For example, in this video, I show how to work with Airtable arrays in Make. And in this video, I show how to use custom webhooks.

Hope this helps!

A Run Script step that calls Microsoft Graph’s create-event endpoint with showAs: "free" and isAllDay: true. Two Airtable consultants have already replied.
