Photo Compression & Offline Data Collection in Airtable Mobile

Hi everyone,

I’m using Airtable on-site to document materials, and I have two questions:

  1. Photo compression: Is there a way to automatically compress photos when taking them directly through the Airtable mobile app? The original photos are quite large, which makes uploading/syncing on-site slower. I’d like to reduce the file size while keeping enough quality for documentation purposes.
  2. Offline data collection: Is there a way to use Airtable fully offline for an on-site survey? Ideally, I’d like to be able to create records, take photos and fill in fields without an internet connection, then have everything sync automatically once I’m back online.

Any recommended setup or workaround would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

@Callmemoris

  1. This is not possible, so your actual problem of slow uploads will not be solved. However, you might get faster upload speeds by using Fillout’s advanced forms for Airtable. Also, you can always compress the images afterwards by using Make’s automations along with any of the many image manipulation tools that they support. However, the compression would happen AFTER the upload, not PRIOR to upload.

  2. For offline form collection, you might want to check out AirFill. (For online form collection, Fillout remains the best.)

Hope this helps!
