Buffering Issue

Submitting our form causes buffering. The device used to fill out the form is a cell phone.

I am not sure if it’s a data issue or maybe the size of the logo used in the form.

Can anyone advise about this issue?

Thank you

I’m not sure what you mean by “buffering”, but Airtable’s forms are designed to load nearly instantly on a mobile device.

If you’re having problems with your Airtable form, try removing the logo that you were talking about and replace it with a smaller logo.

If that doesn’t solve the issue, then you may want to open a support ticket with support@airtable.com.

You may also want to experiment with Fillout’s advanced forms for Airtable, which is 100% free, is also optimized for mobile, and offers hundreds of features that Airtable’s native forms don’t offer.

Hey @Greg F.,

Seems that you mean that by the time you SUBMIT rather than open you have some “buffering”? First thing I would think about is stable internet connection?

On my side, and for all my clients I would say, we have not been experiencing that lately. Just as a side note, you might want to look into Fillout as mentioned by Scott. Great tool :D

Thanks Mike for responding.

Actually what I meant is that a client is having trouble with submitting a form I sent to them by link. When submitting via cellphone, they get the buffering pinwheel, so I am trying to problem solve the issue. Being that this is my first Airtable form, I want to determine if  the issue is on my end, not theirs. So, I am checking image sizes, etc. I am also wondering if the form contains too many questions and better suited for viewing/responding on a desktop pc v.s., a cell phone, which is where the hangup is.

If you open the form on your own cellphone and sumibt. Do you also get the buffering pinwheel? Or is it happening only on their end?

Mike,

It’s on their end. The form has a lot of field data to submit, including documents, etc., so I want to make sure that I am not overburdening the app.

If the issue only happens on their device and not on yours that’s good evidence that it’s something localized on their end

If I were you I’d try it out on two more phones and if they all work fine tell your client that it works fine on 3 of your devices and to experiment with another one to see if the issue persists.  If it does, it might be a network issue instead of a device issue, does that make sense?

I’ve reduced the size of the images used and it tested well when using another cellphone. So, it seems to be on the client’s end.

Thank you.
