Email Data Import Limitation?

I’ve been importing data to bases and found Airtable has been dropping entries. My CSV file has 11k+ entries yet once imported it gets cut down to 10k. Is this a limitation on Airtable’s part?

I’ve been importing my CSVs through the email function. Does this have something to do with emailing data specifically? Does this only happen when you first set up the base and not when you update the data again with another email?

I plan on eventually automating my email imports so I’d like to get this dealt with. I do not want my entries being dropped with any more initial imports and future automated reports.

@clairewu

That is correct. The email sync has a limitation of 10,000 records. You can read Airtable’s support article on this here.

There are actually many limitations with the email sync (including that you can’t edit those records in Airtable), so it’s usually recommended to bring in CSV files via a different method.

If you need to automate these CSV imports — and if you’d also like to automate the merging of duplicate records — I would highly recommend using Make’s CSV modules along with Make’s Airtable modules.

Make’s Airtable modules lets you “upsert” records, which is the same thing as “merging”. It will create a new record in Airtable if the record doesn’t already exist in Airtable, and it will merge an existing record with any updated data if the record already exists in Airtable.

I demonstrate how to import & merge CSV files using Make on this Airtable podcast episode. This video will give you a step-by-step walkthrough on how to set this up.

If you’ve never used Make before, I’ve assembled a bunch of Make training resources in this thread. For example, here is one of the ways that you could instantly trigger a Make automation from Airtable.

Hope this helps!
