Question

Locked view shared View

Forum|alt.badge.img+2

Hi everyone,

I have a problem with Lock view. I have a view that I lock so that other people can’t modify/change my data listed there. but when i try to share this view. the toolbar for fields, group, sort, etc is not locked and the person that is using the shared URL can use it.

Is this a bug or thats just the way it is?if yes, then is there a workaround for this?

thank you in advance

@tjitracharlie

That is correct. With publicly-shared views, your users can filter, group, and sort the records that you've chosen to display for them. (They can’t see MORE records than what you’ve already chosen to show them, but they can choose to see LESS records.)

If you don’t want them to have this ability, the much better way of sharing views publicly is to create an interface page and then publicly share that interface page.

When you share an interface page, you can specifically design the screen how you want it to look for them, so you can hide the filter button, hide the group button, hide the sort button, etc.

Also, most interface pages work properly on mobile devices, whereas shared views do not work properly on mobile devices — so that’s another great reason to use interface pages instead of views.

What if I have like a Session table with all data of client sessions. By creating an interface page, do I need to create a 1 interface for each client, cause that is very troublesome, and the reason I do the publicly-shared views is I can just filter it by passing a parameter to the URL.

No, you just need one client interface page, because interfaces can be filtered by currently logged-in user.
