Hey all. I have a client to which I am creating some template tasks.

The problem I am facing is that.
When the client changes its status, I need to create x amount of tasks.

Example attached.

I have an automation that adds another relation to Client-Tasks that displays the immediate next task

So client has 2 relations to tasks. One to all tasks, one to just the next task, which uses the field.Next task for search to find the right task

The problem I have is that after my automation creates the template tasks it sort them randomly

Even though I have set up a sort list step first.
Always the next tasks is a different one.  If I sort the tasks manually everything works good, but I am having a problem with the first step.

So I need that:
1 the first tasks are created in the right order based on the template order and sorted correctly, and also then I need to be able to manually sort them.

Otherwise the client would never be able to mode them

Repeating Groups don’t run sequentially I’m afraid, and so sorting the list won’t ensure that the created records come out in order

Two workarounds that come to mind are:

  1. Create the records using a script that takes in the sorted list
  2. Use Record Templates, it appears to respect the order that they’re created in

Thanks, that I was afraid of client is quite cheap I don’t want to spend the time doing the scriping.

Hey @felipe-saucedo,

I’m pretty sure that you can get the script aspect of it done in a couple of minutes using chatgpt or claude if you provide enought context. Did you give this a shot? For sure you will need a paid airtable plan for running the script action :D

Completely different matter, but would love to have you join the March 2026 AT Community led Hackathon! Make sure to sign up!!
