Testing automations and hitting our automation run limit

I am testing my commissions processing database and we have very large files that I will need to run an automation on and I hit my run limit.  Do I have to wait until next month to finish the test?  I know that sounds silly- I can just test less data, but I wanted to understand any limitations and how much time it takes for the automations to run to see if it’s even practical to use it.

@MHS_dreamer

There is no automated way to get more automation runs for this month, so normally you would have to wait until the 1st of the month for those to automatically reset.

However, there are a few things you can do:

  1. Send an email to support@airtable.com to see if they can reset your automation runs for this month.

  2. Automation runs are tied to the workspace, so you can move your base to a completely new workspace to instantly reset the automation runs. However, each new workspace would incur an additional monthly/annual charge.

  3. I haven’t tested this myself, but I believe that you can upgrade your existing workspace to a higher pricing plan (except for the Enterprise plan), and I believe that you will instantly get the higher automation run limit applied to your existing workspace.

  4. To prevent running out of automation runs in the future, you can always outsource as many of your automations as you can to Make, which is an advanced automation platform for Airtable. It also integrates with thousands of other apps on the web.

    To instantly trigger an automation in Make without using up any of your automation runs in Airtable, you can trigger a webhook in Make to instantly run a Make automation.

    If you’ve never used Make before, I’ve assembled a bunch of Make training resources in this thread. For example, here is a completely different method that you can use to instantly trigger a Make automation from Airtable, but this method actually DOES use up your Airtable automation runs.

Hope this helps!
