I have a lot of documents that want to organize. Airtable only allows photos. It would be great to add a scan feature.
Hey
It is not possible to get scanning done on Airtable (if by scanning you mean a neat pdf out of photos as you would get using CamScanner or similar apps).
However you can:
1. Use Airtable’s native AI fields to get structured data out of attachments. More info here. You can reference an Attachment field on your prompt, and Airtable will take care of analyzing it.
2. Build your own automation to get a scanned version of a photo via API using third party automation tools such as Zapier, Make, or n8n (more on these automation tools here). I did not work with these kind of services for generating scanned pdfs via API, but you can find multiple of them with a quick google search.
Hope this helps.

I didn’t know that it was possible to make that with AI. Thanks.
Hey
Tutorial: Extract Data from PDFs to Airtable using OpenAI
It’s an Airtable extension so works right inside Airtable! More no-code Airtable integations.
