Hey everyone,

I think I’ve raised this before, but unsure if there’s a workaround …

It seems from a record template, you can’t add an assignee to a task, who doesn’t have base access permissions? I guess the logic is that they won’t be able to view the task in the base?

Similarly, if you have 2 views, eg) Admin and Tasks, with views of the same list of tasks, you can’t assign a task to someone in the Admin view, that only has access to the tasks view, even though they’re the same tasks?

Any thoughts / experience with this?

The main pain point is the Record Templates assignee field, as we can’t fully automate assignees in recurring project tasks, so they need to be manually added / an automation created.

Hm, could you provide screenshots of the Admin and Tasks view?  I want to try recreating what you’re talking about but aren’t sure how your data’s setup

@TheTimeSavingCo - It’s just an example of how it could be set up, but if you have:
-  a view that only I have access to (Admin) and
- a general view where everyone can view their tasks

You can’t assign tasks to people using you private view, because they don’t have access to that view. It pops up asking you to invite them to your private view, which doesn’t really make sense to me, as all of the tasks are in the same Tasks table.

Hm, when you say ‘View that only you have access to’, you’re talking about an actual View that you can use in the sidebar?  I feel like you may be talking about an Interface instead

I’m totally talking about interfaces and pages, as opposed to views.
Awful terminology & description from my end - Sorry!

Roger that thanks!  Yeap I got the same issue, weird!  As a workaround, I turned off ‘Notify users with base access when they're added’ and that seems to have fixed it?  This means you’ll need to add a new automation that’ll help you notify people though

Ah! If that’s thee case, then it’s a bit of an oversight really isn’t it?  Seems like it’s trying to notify them from the specific Interface page, as opposed to just telling the user a task’s been assigned to them.

I’ll give it a go, but I wonder if that also bypasses the requirement for them to have Base access for the record templates...
