Dear Airtable Team,

I have encountered some difficulty when working with tables that have many columns. Currently, to view the information on the far right, I can only use the mouse to drag the horizontal scrollbar at the bottom of the webpage. This method is inefficient and somewhat inconvenient.

I would like to suggest considering improvements to the horizontal scrolling functionality, such as:

  • Enabling horizontal scrolling of the table using the mouse wheel;

  • Alternatively, implementing a canvas-like mode similar to Photoshop, where holding the spacebar and dragging with the left mouse button allows users to pan across the table smoothly.

Such features would greatly enhance the convenience and efficiency of navigating wide tables. I hope you will consider and implement this suggestion.

Thank you for your attention and support.

Best regards,

I want to further emphasize how much this issue impacts my workflow. When working with tables containing many columns, being limited to using the horizontal scrollbar at the bottom of the webpage makes it extremely inconvenient and inefficient to navigate. I frequently need to view or edit columns on the far right, and the current method greatly slows down my work.

Because I deal with large datasets regularly, this limitation disrupts my productivity and makes Airtable much less practical for my needs. Having horizontal scrolling with the mouse wheel or a canvas-style panning function is not just a minor improvement—it would fundamentally improve the usability for users managing wide tables.

I sincerely hope the product team can prioritize this feature, as it would make Airtable far more user-friendly for intensive data management tasks.

Thank you again for considering this suggestion.

If you’re on a Mac try holding shift and using the mouse scroll wheel, that horizontal scrolls for me, should work on Windows too!

You’re probably already aware of this, but there are mice that can do horizontal scroll too if the above solutions don’t work for you; I use the Microsoft Sculpt and it works great

Hey @Kowal,

In addition to the above, you might want to check these shortcuts from Airtable as there are some scroll to the right/left using your keyboard on grid view. Different to the scrolling using mouse wheel, but might still help.

Hi,
you can use ctrl+LEFT/RIGHT to move quickly to the edges
Also, when you working with a limited amount of fields, in some cases it’s good to create other view, Hide all fields and then add those you interested, using text filter.

My Logi MX Master has a horizontal wheel in addition to the vertical scroll wheel that works on Airtable.

That said my model’s horizontal scroll isn’t stepped like the vertical scroll, and often overscrolls or takes awhile to settle, so I just tested and the SHIFT+scroll does work on Windows 11 fyi

Oh and also they don’t really take feedback from the community forum, if you ever have a suggestion you want to hopefully get in front of devs use the suggestion form here
