Validation in the linked record row.

Yes you can do it. Open the linked field's settings and you will see the following options.

If you work from the data side it works, the same if you work on interfaces as well. But if you create records from forms, the "selections by condition" will not work. But the selection by view will work fine!

Thank you for your response.

I don't want to apply the validation on the table side; I want to add the validation on the interface side. What I am doing is using the record review layout, in which I am showing all the fields from the main table and also displaying the list of linked records from the same table that users can edit. I want to apply dynamic validation to the editable fields so that users cannot add inconsistent data.

If Airtable does not provide dynamic validation, is there an alternative to implement this flow?Thanks.

No, that is not possible if you're just using Airtable on its own.

Airtable does not offer ANY validation of data (static nor dynamic), outside of some extremely minimal validation in forms.

As a workaround, you can always create a formula field that gives the user a warning if their criteria didn’t meet the validation.

However, your best workaround would probably be to combine Airtable’s interfaces with Fillout’s advanced forms for Airtable.

Fillout is 100% free and it offers dynamic validations for Airtable, and it also lets you update Airtable records from a form.

So you would simply make your Airtable interface read-only, and then give people a button or a link to update their records in Fillout, where all of your advanced & dynamic validations can be applied and enforced.

If you need anything more advanced than what Fillout offers, then you would need to turn to a 3rd-party portal tool to give you the combined interface & validation that you’re looking for.

The most popular portals that are currently available for Airtable are: Noloco, JetAdmin, Softr, Pory, and Glide.

 @Dimitris_Goudis, note that the information you gave above is incorrect. When turning on conditional restrictions for a linked record field in Airtable, the same conditions follow that field onto the Airtable form.
