Hi, I am currently using Airtable to communicate with my team. We send them text messages (via a Twilio extension) direct from our database. I need help setting up Twilio to send the messages to email or another platform so our team can respond. I also need help integrating with Whatsapp.

Thanks,

Tom

Hi Tom,

I'd be happy to help you take your team's communication to the next level.
I've worked with Airtable and Twilio before, so I'm confident I can help you set up email or other platform integration, as well as get WhatsApp up and running.

You can reach out to me on my email here

I used a webhook automation in Airtable that triggers when a record is updated, then sends that data to a custom script which handles sending the message through the WhatsApp Cloud API.

You can automate all of this very easily — without writing any programming code at all — by using Make’s WhatsApp integrations, Make’s Twilio integrations, and Make’s Airtable integrations.

If you’ve never used Make before, I’ve assembled a bunch of Make training resources in this thread. For example, here is one of the ways that you could instantly trigger a Make automation from Airtable.

However, in general, I do not recommend Twilio for text messaging, as it is extremely overpriced, extremely complicated to setup, and their tech support is poor.

I have been working with text messages in Airtable for years with many different clients of mine, and Twilio ended up giving all of us so much trouble over the years that I now use Make’s SimpleTexting integrations as my main SMS platform.

I give a demonstration on Airtable and SimpleTexting on this Airtable podcast episode.

In addition to SimpleTexting, there are a few other great SMS apps that Make natively supports too, such as MessageBirdTextMagic, and more. MessageBird also has WhatsApp capabilities.

I’ve found all of these to be much easier and much more reliable than Twilio. They’re cheaper, too! And their tech support is better than Twilio as well.

Hope this helps!
