Hi. Amazing software. One thing I’ve long dreamed of is a database that can interact with spreadsheets. Add them as attachments, open them from within the database, get data from and put data in certain fields. It would be a simpler way to do some calculations. As far as report printing goes, even that could be done as an A4 spreadsheet. Thanks!

I see that dependent on the plan you have Bases have from 2 weeks to 1 year revision history log. Are there any plans to extend this to indefinite? It is sometimes useful to check the timeline of changes and inputs and if this could be tracked throughout the life of the base this would add to its probity.

I see how to use a formula to insert the “Date Created” I would love to be able to insert a date for “Last Time Updated”. I have a base that tracks tasks. Knowing when the last time the task was updated would help me sort and prioritize tasks.

I’ve been slowly adding more advanced formulas to my base and I’m starting to create formulas that have errors in them that I cannot find easily. I’m also a pretty heavy user of Cognito Forms and I really like the way they handle formulas with errors: The simple debugger lets me know the general vicinity of the error which allows me to understand what I may have done wrong. Usually the issue is a simple syntax issue, but with larger formulas with nested if statements which often contain additional functions, tracking down issues can be somewhat problematic. A little help in this area via a built-in tool would be much appreciated.

Hi, I am using AirTable to do machine and network inventory. It would be very helpful if I could set a format mask for data. For example I have the following field types: MAC Address ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff - 6 sets of 2 hexadecimal values separated by colons IP Address (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx) - 4 sets of values from 0-255 separated by periods. I would ideally would like to have an option to force the full 3 digits per octet. RGB Values - force 6 consecutive hexadecimal characters.

I desperately want to be able to bold things and less desperately want to anchor links. I’m moving my entire team to Airtable because Airtable is awesome (the linking bases! it makes tracking things so easy!), but it’s really hard to format long text that’s …extra long without any style options. Hello! Just found AirTable and hoping to use it to provide a few solutions at my job and for my friend’s business. One area that would make it easier to deploy would be forms in Android. That way I can deploy it to the end users to log their sales transactions, for example, through a simple form and not have to learn how to navigate a database. Thanks

Please add new API Parameter: excludeFields It would allow me to exclude a few specific fields rather than having to list out all the other fields.

Evernote used to have a product called evernote peek, where each note would be turned into a flash card that one could study (title is one side, note content on the other side). It would be great if Airtable had a similar feature. I keep a lot of bases that contain study/vocab material for languages, so this would be very useful for that. I suppose I could also write a script to sync base notes to Anki…

It would be fantastic to be able to select a “custom” or “configured” option for field types in tables. Specifically, I have some tables with many fields. Some of the fields use the “single select” type. I have 10 options for my single select type that I use repeatedly thru my table. So, in many locations in my table, I am checking for different things(different field name), but, the single select options are identical for both fields. For example, I may have single select predefined options such as “yes”, “no”, or “manager would not approve” and I use those for many of my fields. Currently, we create new bases every few weeks as things change in our workflow. This new base is created by duplicating an old base, deleteing the field data, and then changing some, but not always all of the field names. This is done, so that I don’t have to retype all 10 options for the “single select” answers in my fields. I can duplicate fields as well, but, this leads to more work as not

Hi there, I just had an idea that would be a great addition to Airtable’s concept: something like an »API field type«, that’d make it possible to easily retrieve data from external sources, display them in a table and filter and sort by these values. I know there are probably some difficulties in creating a feature like this that is easy to use enough for every one. However, I could imagine so many use cases in which users could benefit from enhanced/additional data (that’s often availably via public APIs), so I thought I’d just share this with you. The web version is able to display attachment photos in a table to other linked tables by using the lookup function. In ios / mobile version, the picture will be displayed as a web link. It will be really nice if it can display as picture. The mobile app is really handy as an input tools and quick search tools for any database. it will be annoying to click into every records to view the attachment photos. It will be really convenient if it can display the picture right in each row after passing to another table. thanks.

I think it’s subjective whether this is a bug or not. Hope you can “fix it” though :slightly_smiling_face: The barcode search (using the iPhone app at least) seems not to trim whitespace at the end of a string. e.g. We have some QR codes which codify "D032 " not “D032” so return zero results. This is kind of our fault, BUT also kind of counter-intuitive since a substring like “D03” will return ALL results with “D03” within them - so the search is very accepting in one way and very strict in another. Any thoughts? I would have thought trimming whitespace from the end of a search string was normal practice… Thanks

Hi there, We are currently developing an app about food with ingredients, recipes and menus. Basically, we generate thousands of balanced menus from the recipes, based on their ingredients. Our problem is that when we make some reporting into AirTable to see those created menus, we make around 5K request to the server. What we would like to do, is to group them in a single, lightweight zip. That would be so much better for all of us :grinning_face_with_big_eyes: Thanks for reading and considering this. it would be great to get emails a bit more descriptive than someone has responded to Form its probably possible to do it through a zap but again seems like it should be doable in house with all that data the records possess.

Hi, I’ve been tasked with creating a clothing inventory system and have decided to use Airtable. I was wondering if there is a way to create a view which shows all the information in selected tables. We have various ‘concepts’ which come in that the product is split into. I’d like to keep these separate for easier inputting but still be able to view/search information across various or all tables. Any help would be great

Be able to count occurrences of specific value, or even to count occurrences for multiple values (e.g. 45 “Work in progress”, 15 “Done” etc) Also it would be great if the summary at the bottom could be made a bit more visible, e.g. bigger or coloured

Currently when selecting multiple rows and right clicking these you are presented with two options “send all selected records” and “delete all selected records” but no option to download these as a CSV. Sending these records to an email works to some extent as these can be copy and pasted into an excel doc, but it can be difficult to highlight all the fields to copy when there are a lot of records, and this just creates another unnecessary step. The download as CSV function in the menu bar is great, but it downloads all the records in the table. Therefore just having the ability to download a selection of files as a CSV would be great.

How about a Kanban/Trello view, to drag and drop cells like cards and move rows like stacks.

I’m using bases to create several budgets to manage lead source, subdivided into categories. When I group my lead sources by category, I want to be able to run the same calculations I do on each individual entry. I have basic formulas in several columns. ROI - Sales/Spend Cost Per Lead - Spend/Leads Conv % Jobs/Leads I’d like the summary bar for each group to run those calculations too. Thus, if I have 50 lead sources in the radio grouping, my summary bar would take the sum of all the sales for the 50 entries and divide it by the sum of the spend for the same.

I am a convert to Airtable and am constantly experimenting with it but… To move this really rather great product forward there has to be a backup/export facility. I really am amazed reading this forum how people seem willing to put sensitive information or build business critical systems round it without backup, you can guarantee they will be the first to complain when it inevitably suffers downtime, and yes I know you can export tables as .csv files but its hardly the same or robust. Make it a paid option if need be, in fact make the whole product a paid service, I for one would be happy to pay for a host of new features, the value to my business would more than balance a reasonable monthly cost, but like every feature request forum I see it is filled with niche and peripheral requests which without backup or a regular income stream for the developers are just not practical or reasonable to request or expect. I’m the Airtable evangelist in my company and am trying to get enough people to use it that we can invest properly in it across our employees. A struggling block the users I’ve introduced Airtable to are running up against is that you can’t do everything everywhere. Here’s the individual bits of feedback I’ve collated from the team that have frustrated them: Can’t use the calendar view in apps Can’t use the gallery view in apps Can’t see grouped records in apps Can’t edit forms in apps Can’t use forms in-app as a quick method of data input Can’t use Kanban view in apps Can’t use the more powerful web interface in Safari on the iPad Pro

This is a simple one, the ability to generate the shareable view link in iOS app like the web version: This could go into the ‘Share’ icon on top-right hand corner of the iOS app. :slightly_smiling_face:

An extremely useful feature in Evernote is the ability to mark and annotate photo attachments. eg. Circling, adding text, arrows etc. I think iOS 9+ has in-built API to do this, Airtable just has to make the call to let the user mark the image attachment. iOS 9 markup tool example:

Hi - I’d like to be able to create a calculated multi-line field. My use case is turning 4 separate (Non-US) address fields into an address block for export. I’d like users to be able to copy and paste a multi-line address block for one-off letters etc (ie without export and merge). I have created a calculated field with the formula: ((IF({Address 1} = “”, “”,{Address 1} & ", ") & IF({Address 2} = “”, “”,{Address 2} & ", ")) & IF({Address 3} = “”, “”,{Address 3} & ", ")) & Postcode …but I’d like to be able to replace the comma and space with a New Line or New Paragraph mark. Any suggestions gratefully received.
