Zapier is great, but I wish Airtable had integrations with other apps as a first class feature. My boss approved use of Airtable to replace one app we used but was nervous about also getting rid of Salesforce. “Can data feed into Airtable from Salesforce?” Sure, I promised. What I didn’t say is that we’d need to adopt Yet Another Dashboard of an app (Zapier) that has it’s own quirks, workflows, outages, and obtuse privacy promises. Our team needs to be trained on another thing, our corproate card has to be charged by another service , and our password manager would need to secure and share another password. Here’s the model I think airtable should adopt: Gravity Forms connects directly to a dozen popular services. And they enable Zapier for the long tail of apps. If Airtable did the same it would help my team a lot. Specifically I request connections to these: Freshbooks Salesforce Google Sheets Trello Airtable

I would love a formula that looks at a date field and tell if it’s in the past , present, or future. This way I can create views for my upcoming classes, current classes, and previous classes

Hi! Whenever I extend my table with new columns, those columns end up on the far right of my existing views. I’d love it if views could have a toggle, in which new columns added to the table are automatically hidden, rather than automatically shown. Thanks!

It would be good if a function similar to DLOOKUP in VBA could be available. I’d like to pull data from another table, but can’t if it’s not linked. As an example - I have a series of events at which people can hire things. They pay for a number of hire periods. In the table that lists the hires I can select an event, but then I can’t look up the event at which they should return it, even though I can calculate the reference of that event.

I was very excited when the calendar view was released because I track when items are received and due using airtable. I would like to be able to display the due dates for each item on a calendar, the problem is the ‘due date’ column is auto-populated using the ‘received’ column by adding a certain number of days. Even though the result is MM/DD/YYYY, the calendar view won’t recognize the ‘due date’ column as a valid field to display by. It would be a great feature if the calendar could populate using a function column that outputs a date. Thanks!

I’m using Airtable to track leads in my company. Using a form view, my salespeople add interactions to a table. One of the first things they click on is a date field where they put the current date and time. I would love to have a column at the end of the row titled Next Contact Date that would use a rule like =Contact Date + 15 days. Is there any way to do that I’ve missed, or is this kind of thing on the roadmap?

It would be great to see individual records as a grid of thumbnails, instead of just rows in a spreadsheet view. I envision a view similar to your “guide to airtable” webpage. https://guide.airtable.com/ (image below). It would offer a more graphic view of each record. The number of fields to be displayed on the thumbnail would be determined by the size of the thumbnail. You could assign background colors to thumbnails, too.

I use Trello heavily on my team. I love being able to see, at a glance what we’re working on and diagnose when we have a log jam of tasks. I would move it all to Airtable if I had two features: “Status” Field Type. I want to set a record as To Do, Doing, or Done and see a progress bar that grows and/or changes color on status. I want to customize the status based on my team’s work. Workflow View. I want to view my records and their status as if they are cards on a kanban board. Yes, just like Trello. Hey, they didn’t invent kanban boards, and they don’t have a patent on it (I hope). I want to drag cards from one status to another. Airtable Super Powers. Here’s where Airtable would shine in the place that Trello falls. Trello cards have no context. They don’t impact other resources and other resources don’t impacts cards. I have several use cases where it would be helpful for users to quickly “flag” records. It would need to be such that multiple users/collaborators can flag the same record. Example use case. One table is a list of board games. We want to track how many people are interested in playing each game. Currently, we’d have to a) create a User table and then each user would have to b) choose their name from among many in a “Want To Play” field in the Game table. We’d like for them to be able to accomplish this through a single click. Since Airtable should recognize them as a unique entity through their login/username, this may already be available? I don’t see where user information can be accessed/utilized as a table/linked database, however. This functionality has limitless uses for those who want to be able to track the choices, actions, etc. of the users/collaborators.

I have looked around and I can’t seem to find information on this although it does seem that it should be possible: When I format a field as a linked field, I get the key field - I would like the possibility to display a different column in a manner similar to hlookup in excel - does this ability exist? This would also seem to be the answer to the display value in the calendar view - the key value is useful in that it is unique but does not display the useful information contained in the row. For example, I would like to see the billing values on the calendar - not the billing number. I did a bit of a workaround using concatenate, but it is not an elegant solution… Otherwise - the concept of an open online database is something that I have been hunting for for years, so you get 5 stars on app with most potential this year!! I am convinced that Airtable is the only thing I will ever need for all the complex organization I do for basically everything in my life, but there is one thing that would help immensely: the ability to group fields, like in the sense that a particular field would be subdivided into two different fields that always occur together. Here is an example for something frivolous for the sake of being easy to understand: Airtable can be an effective wiki, so I’ve been using it to keep track of some stuff in a video game. In the video game, there are certain Actions that can result in items, which can vary, and those items come in varying quantities. Say there’s an Action that sometimes gives me 3 Knives, but other times it gives me 8 Flowers. There’s not really any way for me to record that right now. For one thing, you can’t have multiple values for a Number field. (I’ve already bumped the request to have multiple values for any field, not just linked records

I use air table to manage my editorial calendar. I think one feature that would really be helpful is to be able to see all my information in a calendar view. I just want to let you know that Trello has this option and that is why airtable should have this option too.

One feature I like in AirTable is the ability to open up the expanded view of a linked item from within an expanded view. However, I’m working with a complex data model at the moment, which means I’m making a lot of use of rollups of linked fields using the ARRAYUNIQUE(values) formula - e.g. if I have a table of books, which are on shelves, which are in rooms, I might use this to get a list of books which are in rooms. Unfortunately, when I’m looking at a list of linked items within a rollup like this, I can’t open this popup - all I see is a list of the names of the items (i.e. in the expanded view of a room, I just get a list of books and can’t open up the expanded views of the books directly). I appreciate that it couldn’t work the same way as a directly linked field, as in this example, books are linked to shelves, and not directly linked to rooms. But instead, could you have a simple hyperlink that opens up the expanded view? This would provide quick access to all

Are they called callbacks? What I’m interested in is being able to call a function on my server when a record is added or changed or whatever.

I think it would be useful to have the ability to insert a timestamp to Long Text fields. We use these fields for tracking activity and having a timestamp would make a huge difference. I envision it like a little calendar/clock icon next to the @ below the field, that when I click it inserts the current date/time (or I would even be able to pick which one to add) I know that I could use comments, since they are timestamped; however, they are not truly part of the record as Long Texts are (as records copied via zap or in duplicate bases will not keep that info). Besides, they will get out of view as new activity is recorded in the history.

I am working with a client to move an existing database from MS Access to AirTable. the initial phase requires data to be collected in air table, through URL forms, and exported back to access database. Access represents selection menus as an index into the selection menu, so an integer. AirTable Represents a selection as a Description, I think. It would be useful for migration purposes to do the cheat that filemaker allows. Filemaker does this in two steps by using a value list to populate the selection and creates the value list from a database table where one field is defined as the value that will be entered and a second, corresponding value will also be displayed. The value stored in the database is only the initial value, but when it is displayed the conjoined value: e.g. for index 1 description "Alberta" Display “1 Alberta” store 1 when selected. I noticed that using a URL form to enter a field specified as a date. When I click on the field it provides a calendar to select a data, which is good, but on the iPhone iOS 9.2.1 the top of the calendar was truncated precluding selection of a date early than this week. It turned out we could also manually type into this field, however when I entered a dd value of 99 it was happy accepted. I should also note that the entry formate was different that the one species in air table for that date field. Ideally, on the URL form we could only select from the calendar in such a way that the calendar actually was all visible, or if we had to enter a date manually, an appropriate numeric only keyboard would appear. Right now the calendar selection appears, then the keyboard appears , and pushes the calendar off the top of the screen, this is why it is truncated I think.

So, I’ve got my base set up and it’s loaded with data. Problem is when I pick a linked field the keyboard pops up as if I need to add more data and I’m presented with half a screen. Well, maybe so, but most times than not I simply prefer to swipe down to the record I need. The linked table contains part numbers and they’re sorted, so It’s easy and faster for me to swipe down the list. Would like to see a config setting to set the default keyboard popup behavior.

It would be helpful to allow users with “Read” access to Bases to be able to resize the columns in grid views.
