I've been organizing my lessons on airtable. Multiple picture attachments and comments for explanation. I just realized that there's no way to search for a particular comment. I'm lost here after a couple of months into the project.Idea: Search should include commentsCritical to collaboration & finding the right attachment. 

Remove the possibility to add records with the blue +-button for lower levels The blue "+" button does NOT make any sense for lower levels, as the record will disappear and will not be added to a higher level.It only makes sense to add a record to the top level by means of the blue button. What is the proposed idea/solution?In an interface timeline view, the user can chose to change the timescale (from days to 5 years). So far so good.However, very often you do not want the user to be able to change the timescale. Why? Because you set your planning to be done daily, weekly or monthly. E.g. if you do it monthly, a daily view just does not make sense and confuses the user.I.e. the interface builder must be able to chose if their user is allowed to change the timescale (i.e. the user must be able to toggle it on or off). How does is solve the user problems?The interface will be loved better as there will be no confusion for the user.How was this validated?By many users that are confused.Who is the target audience?All user that work with timeline, e.g. resource planning companies, project management companies from all different kind of industries.

Please add an OCR engine for images and files along WITH ability to search text of attachments. What is the proposed idea/solution?Create a single lookup field that a user can enter a company name or address and the autofill starts searching, similar to what is populated when you start typing an address into Google maps. Once selected, the company name, address 1, address 2, zip/postal, state/province and country are populated into the fields listed.How does is solve the user problems?This would provide address standardization and prevent users from having to search on google for an address and then enter that field either individually into each field or copy and paste the entire address.How was this validated?Not sure what this is askingWho is the target audience?Any company including addresses in their data fields. What is the proposed idea/solution?Currently when you send an email from Airtable, it automatically defaults it "Airtable Automations" as the sender. What is the proposed idea/solution?I want to be able to add a color based on a formula. For example I have a bunch of subtasks under a parent task. I want to color the records where due date is greater than the parent task end date because this is a task I need to be flagged since the whole task should be done before it is currently planned. Ideally the formula would be,  IF({parent task end date} - {due date} < 0) and then I can set the color to yellow.

Hello! Airtable provides an incredible base for information. Sometimes, we need to use them, combine them and work over them creativelly – for example in a text, using that information freely.I would grately appreciate a posssibility to:Mention specific records (of any tables of a base) freely in the long text field type – to tag them by @ anywhere in the text and get active links.Display a long text field in a better-arranged, more article-like view, meaning it to be (optionally for the column) larger and more writing-and-reading-oriented (in the full-record view), not only as tiny as other field types.Enjoy richer text formatting in the long text field type, such as simple text coloring.That could take Airtable to a whole new level, in case of using stored information not only in bulk ways, but also such creatively. What is the proposed idea/solution?Permit an integration with Google Drive for Cloud Storage or any other platform as such for attachments because when there are attachments included within in a Form, the database cannot handle the capacity which airtable provides. How does is solve the user problems?The user can now view critical documents through Google Drive from the airtable once the user clicks on any cell which has an attachment, or you could use an API to Pull that data and show it in some interface within airtable itself to make it easier for the user to visualise, but the data is stored in GDrive.How was this validated?After I tried showcasing Airtable to the Senior Management who had already invested in Microsoft Suite, they found it ridiculously expensive for only having 1GB of cloud storage for attachments when you could simply connect to your Google Drive or Dropbox and avail extra storage which is not an available feature.&

I would LOVE to see a black/gray “Dark Mode” option, at least for web-embedded tables. While Airtable’s super-friendly and happy UI is a HUGE selling point and greatly appreciated by our desktop users, we’re working on deploying a 4K TV-based Status Board, and in such a context, the brightness of the native Ui is jarring. I could also see a Dark Mode being useful on iOS, if for no other reason than battery-preservation. And of course, “Pro Users” always like a dark option. Specifically in regard to embed views, might there be a way to style the colors via CSS? Thanks for your consideration, A.

I’d like to be able to edit images in order to re-crop and rotate them. There is a airtable help article saying this is not supported and asking users to re-upload images. This is a pretty annoying workaround. Whilst the web app at least allows cropping and rotation of images during initial upload, the iOS apps do not. And you never know the orientation of an image coming from an iphone - there is even an unresolved issue I found in this forum about this. So users who want quality photographs in their databases, who therefore use iphones to take photos - cannot crop, cannot rotate, cannot edit later and are never 100% sure of the orientation of their images.

What is the proposed idea/solution? In the Views menu, there are currently collapse and expand options for each view, but it would be GREAT to have an option to collapse or expand ALL views at once....How does is solve the user problems? Once tables become robust and contain a lot of info, navigating the views can be cumbersome. A collapse all views option would help....How was this validated? I feel this should be an option (toggle) on Last Modified Time fields. Like “Modify time when lookup fields change”. Something like that. How does it work right now?Currently when a lookup field changes, last modified time fields don’t change on the linked record. This makes sense since you’re not actually changing the record. How would this be even better?Add a toggle to also update LMT fields when lookup fields change. There are use cases with automations and above all syncing and updating with zapier that you could want to trigger a modified field. There are workarounds on this. I usually do it with automations in airtable. For example bringing the Last modified time from the linked record as a lookup field, and then using a function with DATETIME_DIFF to check for differences. Whenever there’s a difference, you trigger a small change on any of the other cells. But that seems overkill (three new cells just to perf

We use Airtable quite extensively and the most often used tab has a whopping 65 columns. We make use of many views and love Airtable! A small frustration is that when trying to organize columns from the "Hide Fields" dropdown you have to grab each visible column one by one and drag it to the top if you want the visible columns to be first... which we usually do. It seems like this would be something very easy for the developers to add a "Move hidden fields to bottom" or "move visible fields to top" button and it would save a lot of time on a very automatable task. I often find myself needing to incorporate data from various databases into a single interface. While synchronizing data is an option, it often leads to cluttered databases filled with syncs that serve no other purpose than to support the interface.The goal of interfaces in Airtable is to offer an experience akin to using an app: seamless and integrated. However, the inability to draw data directly from multiple databases undermines this objective. The need to create multiple interfaces or syncs detracts from the system's cohesiveness.Furthermore, enhancing the left pane navigation with additional layering options would be highly beneficial. It would complement the capability to integrate data from various sources, further improving the system's functionality and user experience.

Many times, I need to create a view for someone else to consume.  It's usually a short-term request.  Over weeks or months or years, we end up with a ton of "stale" views -- views that are never used by anyone ever again.  It's a pain to go through a manually purge those views.  Instead, what if...* When you create a view, you're given the option to set an EXPIRATION TIMESTAMP (sort of like a time-to-live TTL) on a view?* Then, when the TTL expires, Airtable automatically *deletes/purges* the view?* As a bonus, maybe perhaps 1 week before the TTL expires, send a REMINDER EMAIL to anyone who has accessed the view in the past?* If some DOES access the view within that 1 week, then Airtable automatically EXTENDS the TTL out like another 30 days?* Of course, provide creators with an option to turn OFF the TTL if need be, but allow them to keep it in place for views that are rarely accessed (if ever).* Lastly, if a view gets a

What is the proposed idea/solution?Provide a mechanism to identify and flag STALE tables/bases within a given Airtable workspace. Stale tables/bases are those where the data has NEVER been accessed within the last 30/60/90/180 days. Consider allowing base creators to set an OPTIONAL time-to-live (TTL) timestamps either on a per table or per base.  If data has not been accessed either by a user or by an API after that time, then auto-delete the table/base.How does is solve the user problems?In many environments, there is "data sprawl" where users may randomly create "test" tables/bases for short-term purposes.  It would be nice to identify and flag where stale data exists, so that it can be purged as needed.  This can be a compliance requirement for many industries, depending on the type of data stored within Airtable.How was this validated?Teams can spend DAYS or WEEKS per month trying to figure this out.  Having a mechani

What is the proposed idea/solution?Create the ability to only include records in a look-up field that are filtered by conditions or a view. Right now, you can only select records based on filtered conditions or a view. Can you please arrange for the pop up calendars to stay the same size as you scroll through the months. When it changes size, I often click on an empty space and have to start over.Thanks.
