It would be great if Airtable had a STDEV roll up field. I would think it would be easy, since the calculation is available (you can set the field summary at the bottom to stdev). To create a manual formula is difficult with variable data otherwise.Please add these feature (as well as other statistics that are already available and calculated in the summary at the bottom of the field).

Hi there! I know that advanced user permissions are something the developers are working towards, and I saw that providing examples of our use cases can be very helpful for that purpose. Hopefully I’m posting in the right place?I am the development director of a small team (13) of indie game developers. We use airtable to keep track of tasks, meetings & milestones, and developer statistics such as average hour estimate accuracy. This is the second team I have used airtable with. Most of them have not used airtable before and I have noticed some issues while onboarding them - there’s a direct relationship between how robust my setup is and how much bloat there is that confuses them.I am most concerned with view access for fields. While it is possible to hide fields in certain views, they are still visible when the record is opened. I would love three levels of viewing access for fields - displayed on a card and when the record is opened, displayed only when the recor

When i’m logged in, I’m constantly in “full edit” / “design mode”, i.e as the creator/owner of the base I am anytime able to edit everything which creates the risk of accidentally changing a view or editing a table the wrong way. Is there a way to switch from “Design Mode” to “User Mode” or “Input Mode”. Basically after I have created the base with its tables and forms, I want to switch to a view where I just USE IT. Enter and view data etc… Being in “Design Mode” all the time is annoying. Or am I missing something? Cheers, Ziad

It would be awesome if Airtable’s formula engine could recognize “curly quotes” as the same thing as "straight quotes".When editing formulas on mobile web browsers, curly quotes are the default. And, when copying and pasting formulas that have curly quotes from other places — such as this forum, which changes quotes to curly quotes outside of a code block, or rich-text editing apps which change quotes — the formulas won’t work upon pasting them into Airtable.There have been multiple times where I have been scratching my head in confusion over a “seemingly-perfect formula” that doesn’t work properly, but it is actually failing because the quotes are curly.

Hello. It would be great if Airtable could provide an Avery 5160 (30-up) template for the Page Designer Block. Business Card is currently as small as it gets. I’ve tried a few times to make a custom template, but the printing never quite lines up right. Perhaps the Airtable team could get it done properly!

It’s not useful to have the history record for records display in ‘days ago’ or ‘months ago’. Much more useful to display the actual date. Rationale is that when looking at history, its very likely you’ll be auditing or reconciling events on that record, so seeing that a record change happened ‘3 months ago’ is not at all useful. I’ve discovered through this forum (thanks @ScottWorld !) that you can hover to see the detail, but why force users to d that? Much better to show actual date, potentially useful to hover to reveal time which can sometimes also be useful. Cheers

It would be really cool if we could copy and paste the actual fields themselves (not the data) between tables. For example, if I have 5 fields that are: single-select field multi-select field checkbox field number field formula field based on the fields above I would love to copy all 5 of those fields and then paste them into another table. (No copying of data is necessary.) And then, upon pasting those 5 fields into another table, I would end up with: A single-select field with the exact same options & colors that were in the other table. A multi-select field with the exact same options & colors that were in the other table. A checkbox field that is formatted the same way as the other table. A number field that is formatted the same way as the other table. The same formula, but referencing the fields in this new table. This is something

I am new to AirTable, and I LOVE it so far. I need the ability to set a junior staffer’s viewing/editing permission to see and edit some of the columns but not certain sensitive ones. Is there a help topic I can read on this? Or do I need to create a new related table or base for her which links to mine but I’ve taken out some columns? thanks in advance.

Our org is trying to stick with Airtable but is struggling with the need for better ways to share parts of our data with the public. The beta of embedding/sharing blocks is a step in the right direction, but it is currently unusable for us because there is no way to limit the public from accessing the entire base from the embedded block view. To make this feature viable in our case (and I think in the case of many other users), access would need to be limited to the view upon which the block is based. For example, an embedded map would reveal only data from a filtered view of the base with confidential fields hidden. Thanks for sharing the beta and hope this feedback is helpful.

For those with LONG records (such as >30 fields)… Wouldn’t it be nice to VISUALLY break up the record in a way such that you know where you are in the record? I routinely work on a database that has approx 60 fields per record. The new Conditional Forms field on Airtable has been a lifesaver and is a GREAT upgrade. However, when you are NOT entering the data in the “Form”, but rather looking at the record in the Grid view, you still see all the fields and it can be overwhelming to scroll through them all. (And in my case, creating a different view with some fields turned OFF is not a good solution) My idea would be to add horizontal divider lines and/or spacers to visually break up the record to allow you to see where you are within the record. I’ve seen requests to have specify a color for linked records, but I’d like to request a feature where the linked item actually gets its color from the linked table.Example:I have tasks with a “completed” field in one table. I created a nice color coding in that table to see at a glance, what’s in progress or done.I then link to these tasks from another table. But there, I only see a long list of grey boxes that don’t give me any information other than their name. To see which of these linked tasks are actually finished, I need to click every one of them and open the detail window.Imagine I could specify that the boxes should inherit the color from a view of that linked table. In the column config dialog, I pick the view the color should come from and voila.

It would be great if the Search Block would let us search for entire phrases in our database, instead of breaking up the phrase into individual words.For example, if we wanted to search for this phrase:“cat on a hot tin roof”Airtable’s Search Block would return ALL the records that have ANY of those words:catonahottinroofBut we only want to return the records that have the ENTIRE phrase.This is typically done in other database languages by putting quotation marks around the phrase. But using quotation marks in the Search Block doesn’t change its behavior.Interestingly enough, using the “Find in View” feature on the grid view actually DOES respect entire phrases, but that just highlights all the matching phrases within your view, so you have to scroll up & down through all of your records to see your matching results. This would be very difficult to do with thousands of records.Thanks! 🙂

Hi fellow users,I saw a similar request from 2017, but wanted to bring it back up since Airtable’s user base and functionality has grown since then. It would be really helpful to have the ability to navigate around a view (especially a grid) using the Page Up/Down and the Home/End keys when working in a large table. I would find this particularly useful for views sorted by date, where you may need to bounce back and forth between different months or weeks.Anyone else feel they’d have use for this?Table Navigation using keyboard (Home/End,PgUp/PgDn)

Airtable introduced these highly invasive views tabs a week ago and now every time I open a table the first thing I have to do is close the tab as it takes up valuable real estate and serves no purpose. The old method of clicking the views dropdown worked perfectly fine. Please allow us to disable it so it does not automatically open. Thanks.

Hi there, the current version of the galleries prevents mobile phone users (via a web browser) to use the sorting, filtering and search mechanisms on the galleries.On a mobile web browser, the toolbar is hidden (and on a PC, below the 500px responsive breakpoint as well).I just tried it on a mobile web browser in landscape mode requesting the desktop version and it works more than fine…Is there a reason for behaving so? Could you please re-enable this?Thanks a lot!

Is there a way we can pull in Base and Table ID so that we can build links to different records etc? I would love to be able to when a record enters a view it starts a trigger and then sends an email with a link to that record view

Appears Airtable has changed the ability to retain standard or custom text colors for font in the Page Designer Block? WTF? Am I missing something or is standardization of font colors and retaining custom colors no longer an option?

Airtable currently supports the importing and exporting of .ics calendar files, but the calendar view doesn’t properly support displaying all-day events — even when those all day events are perfectly formatted to the .ics standard. The calendar view incorrectly displays all-day events as blocking out all 24 hours of the day, instead of simply displaying the all day event at the top of the day. This applies to both: All-day events that take up one day. (The workaround for this is to make the start date & end date perfectly identical to each other, or just make the event a small 15 or 30 minute event.) AND All-day events that take up multiple days. (The workaround for this is to break up the event into multiple records.) The latest thread which discusses this problem is located

Creating records should be a purposeful thing. Auto creating a record by clicking below a record rather than only when clicking the + is annoying and leads to lots of blank records. Please allow to turn this off.

We work a lot with MP3 files in our Airtable bases.When playing back an MP3 file in an expanded record view window, all we currently see is a gray square with a play icon in the middle.It would be fantastic to also see a basic representation of the file’s waveform (like in Dropbox). That way we can see what we hear. It would allow us to jump to a section in the file based on its waveform. The waveform would have to be placed exactly between the left and the right time indicators, so that the little black playback dot and the waveform line up correctly.Everyone working with audio files is used to working like this. This feature would make Airtable attractive to a whole new group of professional users.Here’s a mockup of what this expanded waveform view could look like:

It would be useful to have a “Button” field type that you could use to trigger an action (e.g., perform a calculation, run a Block, trigger a Zapier Zap, run a script, run small automations, etc.). Even though some of this functionality can currently be hacked-together using other fields like checkboxes in conjunction with Views and Zaps, this is something that has to be explained ad nauseam to new users. So, instead of having a “Submit” checkbox in a workflow that can accidentally ticked, having a distinct “Submit” button would be much, much more clear to novice/infrequent users. This is a feature currently offered by Coda.

Currently the search block does not match “partial match” queries. It should match plural form of words and have an option to match synonyms or possible misspellings.
