Every field and table has the ability to have it’s own description, but the views within the table do not. It would be extremely beneficial to add field descriptions to each view so the other members of my team know what they’re used for and have all the info they need to make informed actions in that view.

Would love to be able to order the pivot table by the summary column (in ascending or descending order). Would be especially helpful if you could sort on any column including summary by clicking the name of the column.

I have a lot of options in my multi-select field. I would like a way to group them more efficiently than having to drag each one (and alphabetical doesn’t help in my case). For example, lets say my multi-select field is “Food”. and every type of food is an option. It would be nice to group the potential options into a pre-defined group, such as “Fruits” or “Vegetables” or “Meats”. Then I could color code the whole group at once. Or I can could re-order the whole group at once. And when I add more options, I can simply add it to a specific group and it will inherit the color and order in the group. A related request is basically to have a more sophisticated screen by which you can create your options for single and multi-select fields. It would be great to be able to copy these fields from one base to another without having to color code them all again, etc.

Having an automatique QR code generated on a field for each record would bé great…

There should be a unified view that links together all records and all tables (all linked records “left joined” automatically, or could be an option of left, right, outer or inner). This way, you could apply features such as roll-ups and counts without needing to update the linked records (“re-linking everything”) every time. This will allow querying across tables from outside all of them as well… I realise that there might be issue with recursion, but should be resolved easily by putting a recursion level that should be rendered in the menu or putting a soft cap (or both!)

I have a rather long list of tables at the moment (though I am hoping to combine some of them into fewer tables), and the tabs are taking up about half of my laptop monitor. It would be nice to be able to hide these tabs to increase the size of the work area.

We use Links to show how deliverables (in one table) relate to open projects (in another table). As deliverables are completed, they can be hidden in the table view of Deliverables, but they remain visible in the Linked column in the Projects table. I feel like expanding which records are shown through Links would be a massive boon for anyone who wants to form more of a relationship between different tables.

It would be useful to be able to apply a filter via a parameter on the URL without having to build that filter into a view. E.g. https://airtable.com/baseID/tableID?filter_name=Adam&filter_status=Alive Use case 1: I have noticed some records which could be of interest to a single client only, I can filter the table to show only those records, then send the URL to them. They click and are taken into the table view but with additional filters applied, so they see what I saw. Use case 2: I’d like to send a welcome email to project managers inviting them to update records which are relevant to them, ideally without them having to apply filters themselves. In the email would be a link to the table, pre-filtered to only show their projects. I want to automate the creation and sending of this email (e.g. with Zapier), so creating one view per project will not work, instead I would have zapier generate the URL parameters based on variables from the input.

It seems that filepicker.io has gone defunct, and is no longer a viable option for an in-app file-selection API. @Airtable, please update your file-selection to use a more updated API, device native API’s, or else a custom solution that meets users needs on Android and iOS (and the upcoming iPadOS). It’s now basically impossible to upload a PDF (as a PDF) to a record’s Attachment field in Airtable on an iOS device, which is pretty frustrating. Uploading scanned pdf files to airtable using IOS Ask the community I noticed this recently too, @zola_mzimba – I cannot access Google Drive anymore. The thing is, it’s not actually Airtable’s problem, nor can they directly fix any issues in that interface, because that interface is actually another app called Filepicker. Is there a way to have markers in a Map Block be coloured based on the value of a Single Select field in each record? It would be very useful to have markers that represent records in different categories have different colour markers on the map. For instance, if I have a map and some markers represent shops that are open 24 hours and some markers represent shops that are only open during the day it would be great if this could be shown on the map with colour. Thanks!

It would be nice, if we could use @ also from the mobile version, not only from desktop version.

In Gallery View, you can customize what attributes of any given record show up on the card. In Calendar view, you just get the name of the card. I’d like to be able to, when you click a record in calendar, see a couple other attributes of my choosing with having to fully expand the record (some of these records have a LOT of attributes, and I only need to see one or two specific, consistent ones in calendar).

Would love to have the ability to sub-customize the Date field to input/display ranges instead of having to create separate fields for start/end dates.

If I have an event that is 5 days it takes up the view on the calendar, In google calendar, a five-day event is shown on the top a line and cleans up the calendar, would be great to do this here at present I use a filter but it gets complicated after a time.

I am working on a database for a company that wants to track their projects. We have a status field and would like to have the status set to a default when a new record is created via a form I made. In the real world, they get a call from a new client and would like to input their relevant data into the database with a simplified form. This is critical as the client is on the phone with them while they are in the database and looking at a sea of fields is not realistic, hence the form.We started this database to help reduce the workload, double entry, keeping tabs on projects, etc. So far we have found ways to fill these needs. Another way that would help is a default value in a Select or Multiple Select Field. This way I can hide the status field on the form and it is one less thing the call handler has to fill out while talking to the client. Come to think of it, more then a couple of single select fields in our base could benefit from a default value…

It would be essential to me to be able to create a dashboard with a search that would then pull in rose from all of my bases across all of my bases. this is preventing me from setting up most of the applications I want to use including a complex task management system that I use in wrike. A dashboard to pull rose from across all bases or even across tables within a base would be excellent and might allow me to adopt airtable.

You offer no offline backups and all threads are closed vendors offering paid solutions. Downloading csv files not an option. When will you have a backup solution?

I am often in a position where I would like to compare data from two tables. Say for example, one table was my Estimations table, where I have many entries where I forecasted the result of something. In a separate table, I have my Records, where I recorded the results of entries. If I wanted to map those those table together, there is no way to do so. The only solution is to merge those two tables into one single table. This would be fine if the data was used in exactly the same way (all of it’s subsequent columns were doing the same things to the data), or the columns were simple, but this is not the case. I calculate different things on my Estimates than my Results. The solution for this would be permitting Multi-Table Charts, where I select: Table 1X, Y, Grouping Table 2X, Y, Grouping Or alternatively… X ValueTable 1: COL, Table 2: COL Y ValueTable 1: COL, Table 2: COL Grouping… This would allow for much more powerful data comparison, and would not require me to try to merge differ

I want to be able to click on a URL that is a link to a local file. The file would anyway be behind our company firewall so the drive location would not pose a security risk as you would have to be on our VPN to see the file. But the URL field will not support a clickable link to a internal file that is a webpage.

Similar to how the grid view can group items, I’d like to be able to group items within the gallery view.

I submitted the following feedback and thought I’d repeat it here to see if there’s any other interest in this improvement: So I wanted to suggest a minor improvement that would make a feature FAR more useful. There’s something broken about your Calendar View. Showing me the month of January isn’t very helpful when it’s the last week of January. Usually when viewing a month of a calendar one wants to see the next 4 weeks, not a static 4 weeks, 75% of which has already elapsed. Take a look at most any calendar app on your computer or phone and you’ll see what I mean. Either last week, or this week, is the top week and the next 3 or 4 weeks are below. Granted, in some cases, it defaults to a view of the calendar month but you can atl east scroll up and down to get the view of the weeks you want. So, as it stands, your calendar view is incredibly useful for 1 week of the month, somewhat useful for another week, and fairly useless for two more weeks. Any plans to improve it?

Would it be possible to have a field type : “link to another table” - similar to “link to another record” but allows linking to other tables in the same base. For example, within the same base, I have : 1 table with a list of tasks and 10 tables for different procedures, within each of these, there is a large list of tasks. I would like to link tasks in my first table to tasks in any of the other tables. At the moment I have to add a column for each of my 10 tables within which I have to define a subtask in order to have a record in the cell, it would be so much easier to have one column where I choose a table I want to link the record to and then maybe a second column with the record within that table.
