Currently, I solved this by writing a Python Lambda function in AWS that runs every minute. It checks all records for our “ongoing projects” table. For each record, it checks what the current status is and who the current assignee is. If the assignee is different from the one that should be there, it changes the assignee to the right one.This allows us to automatically have assignees change based on which phase the project is in. It would be incredible to have ‘if this, then that’ built into some of the column value types.Is there any possibility of this happening?EDIT: I can share the code if anyone comes across this and is wanting to do the same thing.

It would be useful if the filters had an option to turn off or on accents sensitive search when working with data in foreign languages: e.g. a search to find Lucía could find all Lucia and Lucía.

When a view is displayed from a mobile browser (I have tried android chrome and iOS safari), there are no filtering or sorting options like there are on a “full” browser… https://airtable.com/shr7Ypoac5GvBhn1w

I am dying to be able to open records in landscape mode. The current UI allows for a record to be viewed portrait mode which is a bad use of space. It necessitates a lot of scrolling. As computer screens are usually wider rather than taller I don’t see why this a good thing. Please provide an option. Or maybe somebody has a hack?

As noted in the documentation, conditional logic is currently binary if a formula isn’t used. You either entirely use AND’s or entirely use OR’s. Why not add “conditional grouping” to mimic the functionality parentheses would offer? While formulas can certainly accomplish a lot, that’s (1) a lot to expect from less tech savvy users and (2) still pretty inconvenient for quick, complex filtering, grouping, etc.

Are there plans for making the calendar view available for mobile devices? Using calendars on mobile devices is so common these days and the fact that it’s not there is forcing me to do a very convoluted hack involving the Airtable api, node js and google calendar. This is not a good long term strategy. Please let me know what your timeline for this is.Lee

@Katherine_Duh Every once in a while you see questions in the community related to Excel-like solutions. Referring to values in another record is one of them. Only recently it dawned on me that Airtable uses this type of calculations already all the time: in the summary area. SUM, MIN, MAX, RANGE, AVERAGE and more. It probably is a (way too) simple thought, but still I think I need to express it: if Airtable already programmed functions like that in a summary setting, why not use it in formula’s and allow users to calculate between records? Please share your thoughts with us on this one. Regards, André

Hi everyone ! I’m trying to figure out if I can link to another record but with a record’s list without items yet choosen. Here’s a concrete example : I’m trying to get an inventory of my videogame collection. And I need to create bundles which contain hardware, accessories and games. I create a table for the accessories because I need to have a view of all the accessories. I choose to create a line for each same accessory to get a count (by grouping). Maybe it’s not the right way to achieve that. But afterall I need to decrease the count of accessories available for bundles, each time it’s used in a bundle. I want to do that to avoid errors because I need to recreate bundles in the physical world (for a tradeshow). Hope someone understand what I’m trying to achieve. Thanks for any help !

I understand that the Kanban view isn’t yet available on mobile, yet the web view is perfectly functional except from one thing — it does not support touch drag.This is a very important thing for touch enabled laptops (where the keyboard can be easily tucked away) or tablets. Would be really glad to have your view on this, as it seems to me as easy to add.

I find the search bar on the Airtable app very handy, would be great to have this on my computer too.

I have a table with a {Product} field, which is a single linked record to the Products table. I wanted to also add the Product’s ID as a new field. But the RECORD_ID() formula doesn’t accept any arguments – it just outputs the current record’s ID. I’d like to be able to pass the {Product} field to that formula, rather than having to create a new field in the Products table which I then access via a new lookup field. This would cut down on the number of “utility” fields I have to create.

I think the title explains itself but ok… Sometimes I need to create a questionnaire form that needs a specific amount of time to people answer so I can believe that they will not try to cheat. With Airtable it is impossible to make this and I think this feature could be really useful.

I use an ical subscription link to bring in a table’s calendar into my outlook, but to do that for all my tables in all my bases in my workspace isn’t practical as each ical link creates a separate calendar in Outlook.

Ultimate goal is an “action” button on a row, that sends a record to an external application (say, a webhook). If there’s a way to do that would love to know.Right now right click menu has “Copy Record URL” or “Send Record.” A “Copy as JSON” option can make records more portable for other applications.

Just a heads up for anyone who hasn’t noticed this non-intuitive behavior.For Numbers and Currency Field types the “precision” selection can affect the values, not just the formatting. It looks to me like Airtable is inconsistent here though, so results can get pretty funky.For example, create a column that is a Number or Currency and set the precision to 1.00 or $1.00. Type the value 0.49 in the first row and replicate it 9 more times for a total of 10 rows. The sum shown at the bottom of the column will be 4.90, which is correct. The value displayed in each row is 0.49.The non-intuitive behavior comes when you change the precision. Change the precision to $1 instead of $1.00. Each row now shows $0, which makes sense given the rounding. The total at the bottom is now $5, which doesn’t make much sense given all the numbers are 0. Also doesn’t make much sense given the actual values are $0.49 and the actual total is $4.90. Now change the precision back to $1.00. All the rows are now $0.

It would be great if we could query the list of collaborators and the bases for which they have access via the API or download it from the portal.The current UI makes it very tedious to audit the current user base.My current work around is to copy the payload of workspaceSettings.json which arrives when navigating to the airtable.com/wspXXXXXXXXX/workspace/billing. The key billableUserBreakdown appears to have all the data I need. Even just being able to download that file using my API key would be a huge benefit.

Airtable - Support Nested IF formulas Basics of the IF function The IF function will return one of two values depending on whether a logical argument is true or not. Written in the format: IF([logical argument], [value1], [value2]) thi... I would love the option to see that diagram for every complicated if statements tree made. There’s a reason airtable put it in when describing it since its way easier to see the tree diagram than to read the ifs inside of ifs as a single line without getting lost. The advanced version of this would be to not just show the diagram but to create the diagram and have the if statements one-liner code written out automatically so its visual programming. Basically a workflow builder to create ifs using just diagrams and shapes.

Filling in forms with a smart phone. Typing in a value in a field/form that only can contain numbers should automatically open the number keypad on phones.(thanks for a great service by the way! 🙂 )

The little i information button is very useful for describing the title of the column header. However I would like to add the same option but for any cell in the base. When viewing the record in vertical view, the option to click the i button should be there as well for someone to explain why the result is that result or what it means.

hi!When retrieving linked field in the API, described as “array of record IDs (strings)”, you get only the ID of the record. Which is particularly useless as the api would ask you to make a completely new request to retrieve the data!Imagine we have a linked table called People with a Name fieldWouldnt it be useful if we could do smtg like “People.value(Name)” to retrieve the content of this array?Is it gonna happen someday?

I’ve been looking at Airtable for about a month now and I’m trying to convince my company to switch from Google to Airtable. One issue is that we create an assignment sheet every day some of which are of specific priority levels. Our problem is that we can only create 40 rule sets for coloring cells. First off, I don’t understand why there is a limit at all. Something I’d like to see even MORE is the ability to color cells without creating a rule for it and ideally the color would fill one single cell and not only be visible next to the row number. With a product that seems to emphasize “your data the way you want it” this seems to be quite an oversight.

It would be great to have the contents of a record expand on the right side of the screen as you click through the records, instead of having to expand into the middle of the page each one at a time? Ideally have it expand into the section of the screen that blocks occupies, sort of like split panel email.thanks,Scott

It would be nice to have the ability to password protect a shared database views link… Similar to the way Dropbox password protects a folder. If I have a price sheet database with different pricing levels I can hide columns (such as my cost) by creating a shared view. I can share a link to the view with my client but it would nice if the link was password protected in case other employees were to stumble upon it. I have too many clients to grant each permission separately. A password protected link would be a great solution…

I would like to automatically highlight these cards that get stacked at some stage so I can easily spot and focus on these projects.Each stage can have a certain time to be processed. As soon as it goes to a new position, the time starts from 0.
