I'd like to request that Interfaces get the same sharing options the rest of the base gets - specifically the ability to share publicly without someone having to have an account/base access to see it. If you can do this in a base, you should be able to do it in the Interface, which is theoretically designed for sharing.

This is a feature I've seen numerous people request - just adding my voice to it. It would transform our workflow, and currently, this is the only thing Smartsheet has on Airtable in my mind. I can't convince the rest of our team to transition to Airtable if we don't have this feature.

💯this would be such a useful feature! This could work well for creating a client or contractor portal to provide updates or summaries of information, saving the hassle of having to spend time creating something bespoke on Bubble!

There's a thread in another forum (Not Ideas Forum) that has over 3 pages and 80+ kudos. If that were merged here, it would place it in the top 10 ideas. It should really be considered!

Would love if this could happen!

I need this feature too!

For a collaborative tool like Interfaces, the ability to generate a public link is table stakes. I understand it may not have made MVP but it's time to prioritize this feature. It's useless for me without it and forces me to rely on 3rd party tools.

Agreed! This is a greatly needed feature. If this isn't available I will have to look towards switching to another platform. Interfaces would be a great way to share summary data publicly for NGOs, government agencies, etc.

@SKemsWhat 3rd party tools are you using to address this? Thanks!

@bsnouffer We are using Glide to create custom front-end interfaces for Airtable data. It's working well so far and they have a nice free plan and affordable upgrades (which I haven't needed to use yet). Still it would be nice to do it all in Airtable.

I need this too!

Adding my vote to this feature! Should be easy enough, I'd think, but what do I know. 🙂 I don't even need the filter function; I'd love to just share an overview of the data summary, like this:

Would love to see this. Ran into a scenario today that this would be a game changer for

Yes please!!! It makes sense! It is just an interface, and it's read only. We need public links!

This feature is also requested here:  https://community.airtable.com/t5/product-ideas/show-an-interface-without-airtable-account/idi-p/147216

And it has the highest amount of kudos, by far. Please consider it!

There's also this thread: https://community.airtable.com/t5/interface-designer/sharing-interfaces-with-non-users/td-p/160192

At this point AirTable is basically begging us to leave for a fully functional product.

This feature is 100% needed. Expecting external partners/customers to sign-up to see a public dashboard/interface makes no sense. I am currently having to send an email and password for them to login which adds friction and makes no sense.

I need this too!! Airtable please make it happen! It should be like a Google doc

My company was already using Airtable when I joined two years ago, I had never heard of it before. At first, I was unimpressed and mostly avoided it in my work - but this was because my coworkers were using Airtable like it was Google Sheets, just prettier and more expensive. They didn't know the full capabilities and I never bothered to do any research.

But then my company wanted me to find them project management tools and I stumbled into Airtable interfaces. In a day I built them something akin to Jira, except it's BETTER because it's extensible, it's already more customized to our business/data/workflows, and it didn't cost us another subscription. I was so wrong for disliking Airtable, I immediately flipped camps and started calling it my favorite software. Until... NO PUBLIC INTERFACES!?

I got so excited building an internal application for our team it made me think Airtable was going to be my silver-bullet for all projects, I didn't even consider that interfaces might be restricted to only Airtable users - why would I? For a software that is so capable of building useful applications this easily, of course you can publish it on the web and let anyone use it right? Nope.

Today I built an interface for a client that did exactly what I needed - a simple application to let their customers view and submit business partners with recommendations and reviews. I had it working perfectly and only when I was done did I discover - oops - people have to log into Airtable before they can use it. This is an absolute non-starter for this application and for our client.

I will continue using Airtable for internal applications, but that's only like 10% of the potential value proposition. Come on ya'll, let us publish public interfaces! I'm not a genius but I'm smart enough to know this is a baby step away from the functionality you already have. When I can use Airtable to build external applications, you'll replace other tools we use and then I WILL GLADLY PAY YOU MORE. Growing your revenue because your product is 10X more valuable has got to be a better strategy than the email addresses you can collect by requiring a sign in. I'm rooting for you guys, you have an awesome product, just let us use it the obvious way that makes it exponentially more valuable.

Here in August 2024 and still hoping that Airtable changes this point! It limits the ability of this software so sadly...

I thought there was a solution here? At least to an extent...

They did make sharing of *some* interfaces available, but it seems that it is only some of the template interfaces. If you build one from scratch (which is the only way to actually get what you need) then it's still not sharable with the public.

I just noticed that public links for interfaces are live! Woohoo! Thanks, Airtable team. This will be very useful.

Again, it's not available for built-from-scratch interfaces though, which is all that I use. So what I need is still not avialable.

Great job AirTable on implementing what you have! But yes, agreed - unfortunately this is still not a solution for me.

Documents state:

  • The following interface layouts are unsupported for public sharing:

    • Blank layout (these layouts are not optimized for public sharing, mobile support, and our newest interface features)

    • Overview layout  (these layouts are primarily links to other pages in an app, which will require users to sign-in to see)

    • Form layouts

    • Record review  (updated and legacy versions)

    • Legacy dashboard  (dashboards created before February 2024)

    • Record summary  (this is a legacy interface layout that we no longer support as of August 2024)

All the good stuff is in the Blank layouts. Need public sharing of those to exist.
