The ability to create tables and records in this type of view would change my life.

This would be fantastic.

I also want something like electronic post-it notes. Moving blocks of ideas around on a page while maintaining the links to sources in the table. Maybe there’s an integration that would work for me (ie. Zapier to Mindmanager). Being able to create and edit records in the visual view would be so helpful.

This features would make Airtable perfect for project design

Mine too!! and with the ability to have colored nodes for categorization.

This could be done via a Block. It would be very useful to navigate through linked records

Yup! This would be great. I tried ZenKit and they have this option of mind mapping entrees. I love AirTable and I’m not moving to ZenKit, but I really need this kind of feature on my life!

what I meant was: Airtable could design a specific new kind of Block for that kind of functionality.

I put my vote in for this too! A freely associative, object-oriented mind map where every object can be used as a tag and tags become objects capable of having their own tags. Whenever I add a tag to one object, I would want the ability to have the tagged object add my current object as a tag to itself (tying them together) to make the search function easier. This would be a totally hierarchy-free system. Everything relates to everything else through tag-objects, and whatever I search for becomes the “focal” object, showing tagged/related objects all around. Filters could be applied to these tags to narrow down the results being displayed/highlighted.

Other views could then be created to show the objects/tags in a way we want to see. For example, a Calendar view could be created to show all objects marked as “Events”. Each Event block would display certain parameters. I also thought it would be cool to have a tag system that worked kind of like old DOS, having an ability to add tag “modifiers” to increase detail. Example: I want to save a Recipe, maybe I make this as “Recipe-is” and in my ingredients, I could add the tag “Recipe-in”. Both of these, if I created them as objects, would be added to the “Recipe” object as a tag (the -is or -in would have no effect on this). The -is or -in would be helpful for showing how the object relates more specifically to the tagged object and might be useful in grouping things.

If there is another program that does this, please comment.

A mindmap-database combo would basically make all my other project management software obsolete. So awesome!!!

Absolutely agreed that this feature would be a game-changer. Especially with the release of the Gantt view earlier this year, I’d love to see a Mind Map view implemented. We already have similarly functioning apps, like the flow and org charts. A view would incredibly expand capacity and cut out my need for other software like virtual whiteboards or ClickUp (which has a Mind Map).

  • Driven by a self-linking field that can be updated by manipulating the map, like on a gantt

  • Able to display stand-alone records on the map, unlike gantts and calendars that hide records without dates

I would find a mind map view or app incredibly useful if it allowed visualization of links between records in different tables.

Would be a great feature. Airtable! Please consider this seriously!

Cette fonctionnalité permettrait d’aller réellement plus loin dans la navigation dans les records de la base !

Hey, this is a great idea, did someone find a workaroud ?

  • Maybe using the Workflow feature ?

  • Or using, yet another 😞, third party tool connected to AirTable ?

Thanks !

+1, I’d love this! Miro meets airtable. Click up has similar functionality, however their databases is more focused on task management

+1

We need MindMapping !

+1!!! Can’t find a product with such function

Taskade! has a mind map view. However their offering is only really for project management. Only real tool i could find that had a mind map project break down functionality

They have DONE IT!

Shared Base Link 👉 👉 Airtable - Hierarchical Task Management 👈 👈

Now that the free plan allows one extension per base, you can access the “Flowchart” Extension that allows you to specify parent-child relationships between records.

Looks good!

Downsides:

  1. Limited to 100 records in relationships

  2. If you link from child back up to a parent or higher record, it will become a massive mess

Well not really IMO, as it is far from the intuitivity of a mind map, and you can’t manually move around the records and relations.

We still a MindMap extension, working across tables !

in my mind, mind maps don’t have restrictions on one-way up/down connections.

Hierarchical flowcharts are very linear.

My uses of mindmaps connect at multiple levels between different branches, and this extension serves none of the functions I use mind mapping for.

However, I don’t have the ability to process scripting/coding anymore (cognitive disabilities) and I don’t have the money to pay someone to make it for me, so my needs are not something I can get met on my own.

I hope others continue to keep asking Airtable for the ability to have unlimited bridging of “map” branches and without one-way-flow restrictions. I am hoping upon hope that Airtable gets this and a good airtable-written Evernote integration, plus a native ERD mapping environment that makes sense to my rusty and foggy brain to visually structure the records with bases and bases within a workspace so I can fulfill my goal envisioned when I got my first few PDA’s and WinMo handheld PCs in the mid 1990s through to smart devices today… stylus interactive handwriting analysis & OCR import record-keeping and integrations to create a full on memory palace/mind castle.

💯

If mind mapping was in airtable I would totally migrate my work to this platform!!
