What is the proposed idea/solution?

Add a new field called Rate—a number/currency column that can add a suffix (custom field) such as a unit. Same as how the Currency field works, where we can add a custom prefix, but this one adds a custom suffix. Additionally, we should still be able to format them (integer, decimal, currency).

For example:

  • 5 grams
  • 9.81 m/s
  • $9.99 /bundle
How does this solve the user problems?

This would remove the need to create a field for the unit and concatenate it using a formula field, allowing two fewer fields in a view.

Who is the target audience?

Everyone, most especially those who use Airtable for information, research, retail, and inventory.

Great idea. Or if the Number field could simply be updated to support a units measure, would be excellent.
