For readability it would be nice to be able to present numbers (especially large ones) with separators such as commas. Custom defined number formats would be even better (regex).

+1. Other formats like ###.###,00 too please!

I’ll third this. Currently we work around it by formatting as currency with no cents and no currency marker, but since Airtable is so lovely in most other ways it would be great to have this niggling little formatting issue fixed.

Really need formatting options in number fields

Is there a timeline for this feature to be included yet?

Not a perfect solution, but this post and the base it references offer some routines providing greater control over formatting of numbers and currency. The routines can’t be used on input fields, but for those looking to format a calculation, they might prove useful…

Would be really helpful, figured this is an essential assumed must have visual and very surprised it’s missing.

I’ll add my vote for this as a needed update.

Thank you Beth! I had not thought of using Currency without $ and cents.

It’s bizarre that this feature is missing.
I’m pretty sure that it was available 35 years ago in Lotus 1-2-3 and dBase II.
Definitely available more than 25 years ago in Excel and Access.

Also, there are 59 format specifiers for the DATETIME_FORMAT function but there’s no function for formatting numbers. Or is there?

Is any solution with this format ###.###,00?

Just bumping this for those who may have missed it. These routines allow currency and number formatting with user-specified thousands and decimal separators, fixed number of decimal places, use of parentheses to indicate negative numbers, left-, right-, and decimal-alignment, and other features. The formatting does not work on input fields, but does give you a way to present currency and numbers from calculated fields consistently.

This should be added immediately, it’s incredible difficult when managing large numbers and it would make things much easier to understand at a glance! Surely such a simple task should not be so hard to implement? :grinning_face_with_sweat:

We would love to see EU number format as well! :slightly_smiling_face: :slightly_smiling_face:

In need of this feature too please!!

Sigh… If after 4 years, this is still not fixed, it will never happen. What a hopeless support from Airtable.

The only workaround i’ve found is to replace dots and commas with a Script block to match the Airtable format.
There is an example of search and replace inside de block documentation.

I’m a heavy Podio user and was looking for an alternative to learn some new exciting software. I want to use 1,5 as one and a half. NOT 1.5 as one and a half. Is this not possible in Airtable? Am I understanding this thread right?

Yes, you are understanding right.

Unfortunately, the Airtable team is 100% USA based, so my guess is that they didn’t realize that dozens of countries around the globe use different number and currency formatting.

But the real disappointment for me is that they still haven’t fixed the problem, after 4 years of complaints from international customers — many of whom have simply moved onto other products. And it would be such an easy fix for Airtable to implement.

So, unfortunately, you’d have to manually figure out your own solution for this: either create a formula to convert your numbers, or automate something with JavaScript or Integromat.
