+4It would be great if it was possible to FORMAT TEXT (fonts, colors, bold, italics), CELLS (left, right, center alignment, background colors), and BORDERS (bold or dashed lines, colors) within tables. The ability to add extra header lines and/or to FREEZE more cells vertically and horizontally would help, too.
I really like the idea of Airtable, but can’t effectively use it over Excel until it has more functionality.

Is there any update on where rich text formatting is on the roadmap? We have a need specifically for bold/italic/underline, bulleted and numbered lists in long text fields. This is needed for our business to properly maintain citation formats of references.
Yea it looks like its been on the roadmap for over 4 years now! This definitely a feature I think everyone needs and would really benefit the platform dramatically.
+2I’d like the ability to custom URL’s added in fields eg. replace a long URL name with just “click here”
On the topic of table formatting - current Airtables look old fashioned - this picture for instance is a much cleaner look for a table, which you can’t do with Airtable:
I’d really like the ability to assign a text color to an entire column to break the data up a bit. Black text everywhere all blends together. This post shows exactly what the colored columns might look like.
Line truncating in the title row and left, center, and align are the things i miss most from google sheets. Really utilized this when the column headers are long but the cell information is short. Hate having a two inch column for the title but only have Y or N in the cells. I would make them shorter but i need to read the whole title!

Not sure if you’ve seen elsewhere in the forum, but rich text formatting is currently in beta.

Rich text formatting is definitely on our future roadmap. Are there any WYSIWYG editors that you think are particularly well done?
More use cases feedback:
-In Excel with put different colors in headers to easilly distinguish sections of products.
-In Excel with put a grey color in the columns that contains formulas to allow users to see in an heartbeat that these cells doesn’t need to be manually filled.

+3I ditto everything here 1000 times. Airtable is an awesome spreadsheet but it’s missing so much key spreadsheet functionality, centre/right/left align, coloured text, coloured cells…these are small things but they make a huge visual difference…I can’t stress how much a difference these would make.
+3I can’t believe the ability for basic formatting has been requested for 5 years…by a huge number of clients and still not even a date has been discussed.
Airtable, please, please…give us the ability to display our info, the way we want to see our info. (left/right/middle aligned, coloured cells, borders, bold, italics are SUPER important to making airtable a visual masterpeice).
“Is this real life?!” I assumed Airtable would have this feature…surprised to see it’s still being requested?!
Also, not sure if anyone has called this out yet, but being able to display tags within a cell would be helpful. For example: Ability to display character count of contents within each cell, by column. Defining Title Tag; ALT text; Meta Description come to mind where this would be useful.

+7I’ve been using Airtable less than a month really love it; however, I too am shocked that the ability to change the font in tables doesn’t exist. Is there any workaround at all? The text size is an issue. Anytime in the near future?
+5I’m in also desperate need of formatting features for column headers!!!
bold, ital, alignment (L, R, or center), color…
and the ability to group (gather!) columns under header so it’s easy to see which subheaders are read together in a group.
It would also be wonderful in long test fields to be able to UNDERLINE text.
Would be nice to have L, R, & Center - dont understand because it does have this ability when creating a form and adding single line text
