I am new to Airtable and I work in Procurement. I have built something for our buyers to use and track all projects and contracts. What I have not been able to successfully do is create a savings report for upper management. I have looked online and youtube and I have been unsuccessful. Can anyone be so kind as to help me?

Hey Rod, how is everything?

I’m glad to see you taking your company’s procurement processes to the next level with Airtable.

You can build reports within Airtable using the Dashboard Interface. There you may build graphs and pivot tables to visualize your data. If the report is simple enough, then building it in an Airtable Dashboard interface is the way to go since it allows you to click into the details of the data: which  are the underlying records making up each metric and then open up each record’s detailed view to look at specifics.

If the report is too complex for Airtable, then you can explore other options. I recommend GoogleSheets, or LookerStudio. You may also look into PowerBI, Tableau, etc, if you already know and use these tools.

Do you have a template report or sketch of the report you would like to build?

If you are up for it, schedule a quick call and I can guide you on your reporting process.

Best regards,
Matt Nixon

Hi Matt!!

Thank you so much for your guidance. I don’t have anything. I’ve pretty much have build my platform on the fly and know it is very powerful. I did schedule a call with you for today at 3:00 p.m.

Hey @MRod if you’d like to get a second opinion on what you currently have and best practices when building further reports do feel free to schedule a brief call and we can go through it.

In the meantime it would be interested to get some more details as to what you Savings Report should include.

Looking forward to it,
Mike, Consultant @ Automatic Nation
