So, right now I have a big database and I regret my main primary field, which is the name of the student. I would like to be able to link the full name or the student number, cause if there are 2 students at the same class, things get hard!

Yes – you can first Duplicate the field from the options menu for that field:
Once you have your duplicate, you can change the primary field to be the data type you need it to be without losing your original primary data.
