Copy Page Designer layout to another base

I’m not certain, but since blocks are not represented in the API, it seems unlikely.

I do know that you cannot copy page designer objects from one block and paste them into another page designer block regardless if it’s in the same or a different base.

Bummer. Airtable needs a “block export” and import. Or, a way to design blocks at the workspace level and simply share into bases where they are needed. Ergo - write once; run everywhere.

Apologies for reviving such an old thread, but if there's another response to this, I haven't found it. I'm curious if this functionality has been added as of the date of this post. If not, it is still a missing feature IMO. 

Following up on this older thread — has anyone figured out a reliable way to copy or duplicate Page Designer layouts between bases?

It would save a lot of setup time if there’s any workaround or updated method available.

I’m afraid this is not possible! What you could do however is get your PDF generation handled via Fillout maybe?

There is no way to copy and paste Page Designer layouts to any other tables or bases.

In general, it is not typically recommended to use Page Designer, because it has a ton of other limitations as well. 

Here is a partial list of limitations with Page Designer:

• Page Designer can’t be automated in any way.
• Page Designer can’t create PDF files on its own — you need to use your computer’s print or PDF functions for that.
• Page Designer doesn’t yet work in interfaces (but maybe it will at some point in 2026).
• Page Designer can’t insert documents into attachment fields. You have to do this manually.
• Page Designer can’t effectively create documents that are more than 1 page in length.
• Page Designer layouts can’t be copied to other tables or bases.

If you want to work around all of these limitations, you would need to turn to a 3rd-party app for that.

Here are a few popular 3rd-party apps for automatically generating PDF documents from Airtable:

1. DocuMint — the original document creation app for Airtable. Creates PDF files.
    
2. DocsAutomator — creates Google Docs documents or PDF files. 
    
3. Make’s integrations — which can be integrated with any document-creation app of your choosing, even something as simple as custom Microsoft Word documents.
   
   If you’ve never used Make before, I’ve assembled a bunch of Make training resources in this thread. For example, here is one way that you can instantly trigger a Make automation from Airtable.
    
4. Fillout’s advanced forms for Airtable — Fillout lets you automatically generate custom PDF files from a form submission.

As an alternative to the workaround cited by ​@ScottWorld you can use Typeflow.us:

• It has its own form builder to generate document
• You can build template with GDocs or the new template builder if you don’t use Google
• You can sign documents with its form builder too

You can use those templates to the base of your choice, once created!

Thanks for the kind words! Yes, we have documentation for line items.

In this video, I walk through how to set up line items (including nested line items).

We also have written docs here.

The key concept: you use {{loop_0}}, {{loop_1}}, {{loop_2}}, etc. to iterate through your line items. Each loop index corresponds to a different line item from your Airtable array. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions while setting it up!
