Extensions - Page Designer - crashes

Hi everyone,

for a long time the page designer extension did a great job creating shipping labels for my records. But recently the page designer extension always crashes. I have the feeling that with the amount of records in my table - more than 30k - it became a problem for page designer. In bases with a smaller amount of records age designer works well.

Does anybody else have similar issues?

Hey @Kai_Muscher!

I’d be surpried if record count was the issue. I have way bigger bases leveraging page designer with no issue at all. You might want to reach out to support@airtable.com as this might be a bug on their end (and this is an official AT extension!)

Thanks, Mike!

Yes, I will reach out to AT support. Very strange that the page designer - how I created it - won’t work with my biggest base. No issues with the smaller ones.

I will share outcome once available…

Got it. Yes, please make sure to send over their reply (ask for a human response!). It’s always nice to hear the official version, and keep learning on ours side.

Best,
Mike

@Kai_Muscher

Yes, I’ve seen this multiple times. If you try to load too many records in Page Designer, it won’t work. I’ve seen this with just a few hundred records.

I would’ve recommended using one of the 3rd-party document creation tools on the market — DocuMintDocsAutomator, and Typeflow — but I’m pretty sure that none of them support multiple labels on a single sheet of paper.

But maybe you can reach out to them and see what they say, and post back here with their replies!

Just to clarify - TypeFlow supports this. You can either set a custom page size (e.g. 100×60mm) for one label per record, or use a grid layout to fit multiple labels on a single sheet. It also supports conditional visibility at the record level: if a specific field is empty, that label won't render at all.

@typeflow

That’s great to know! :) I had previously searched through your help documentation to find any references to labels and didn’t find any, but I see that you have now added documentation for Avery labels: https://www.typeflow.us/blog/airtable-print-labels#label-sizes-and-templates

That’s great news!

Thanks!
