This is not natively possible in Airtable, but you can do this with Make's custom mailhooks and Make's Airtable integrations.

Make's custom mailhooks would give you a special email address that you can send your emails to, and then you can parse those emails into Airtable.

Alternatively, you can just have Make monitor your inbox of your Gmail account using Make's Gmail integrations, and then parse your emails from there. You can also setup filters to conditionally process some messages but not other messages, based on the criteria that you specify.

If you’ve never used Make before, I’ve assembled a bunch of Make training resources in this thread.

Hope this helps! If you’d like to hire an expert Airtable consultant to help you with anything Airtable-related, please feel free to contact me through my website: Airtable consultant — ScottWorld

Gmail can't, but there's an automation trigger for Outlook Emails, so I reckon you could set up a filter in Gmail and forward to an Outlook account that you create just for this maybe?

On Business and Enterprise Scale tiers - your Airtable can receive emailed CSV or .xlsx files to be incorporated into your base table.

@MloganAirtable Unfortunately, that's not really a viable solution for most people, because it creates a read-only table of data, which people are unable to edit or delete in any way.

@RonniEloff_VKDe

If you're looking to automatically import CSV files into Airtable, the best way to do it is via Make's CSV integrations.

I give step-by-step instructions on how to do this in this Airtable podcast episode.

Hope this helps! If you’d like to hire an expert Airtable consultant to help you with anything Airtable-related, please feel free to contact me through my website: Airtable consultant — ScottWorld

Thanks Scott

We have currently the required NPO retention policy - email retention process - I am having folks print to pdf and store on the GDrive into the specific retention folder, which I then process and link into a retention table in our Legal Base.

I will take a look at the at Make to see if will help I want  the Executive Director to be able send a copy of an email that we need to retain to AT table so we can keep a copy per our Retention policy of legal/NPO related and HR related emails.  She tends to forget and I want to make it even easier to do right at the time she receives or sends.

That won't work for what we're doing.  Thanks for the suggestion

We're not looking at csv or xls.  We're needing to retain specific emails for our NPO retention policy and.  More so, we're under the NPO license agreement.  Business / Enterprise is just way to expensive (and sad that it is) for NPOs.

I'm not sure how Morgan jumped from a forwarding email to csv/xls sheets.  But that's not what we're doing.

Ooh, looks like Airtable just released functionality for you to send an email into an automation in a Base:

That's very cool! But unfortunately, Airtable has decided to make this new feature only available for Business Plans and Enterprise Plans. The good news, though, is that everybody can get this functionality for 100% free by using Make's custom mailhooks.

Hi @RonniEloff_VKDe
I am super interested in your use-case as I am about to launch a product to make combining emails + airtable smoother and save you and your team headache and a huge amount of records. I am actually looking for pilot users and I am in a stage where I am super open to more suggestions.

If you have time for a quick chat, that would be epic.

Features I am working on:
- Automatic status updates in airtable records based on emails: emails sent, email opened, email received
- Automatically linking records to email threads in a shared inbox
- Assigning, searching, filtering inbound and outbound emails and files in shared inbox
- Updates to you and your team about inbound emails related to your airtable base in slack or discord: “User XX just replied to your email “Welcome email”, find the email here and the record here

Let me know!

Hey, we actually built an Airtable extension called TaskRobin to help you send and forward emails into your Airtable table. It is easier to setup and has more advanced features than Make.

How it works is that you will connect your TaskRobin account to your Airtable table, then create a forwarding address. Any email you send to this forwarding address will automatically be saved to your Airtable table as a new item.

You are free to customise the fields in Airtable to select how to manage email meta data such as sender, tags, attachments for easy filtering and sorting within Airtable.
