Mac App Broken, Bases Only Open in the Browser

As a data point, I’m on macOS 15.5, Airtable 1.6.6 (3) and workspaces and bases load up fine in the app

Does this behaviour persist with a different account and after installing a fresh copy of the app?  Might want to open a support ticket directly I think

It’s working fine for me.

You may want to try pulling down from Airtable’s “Help” menu to “Clear cache and reload”.

If that doesn’t work, you may want to try upgrading to a newer version of macOS and see if that helps.

Even though Airtable says that their app will run on macOS versions going all the way back to the year 2017, I’m not sure how accurate that is.

Your version of macOS was discontinued by Apple 3+ years ago, and there have been 3 major releases of macOS since then. The current version is macOS 26. Maybe that will help fix the problem.

Yeah, it wouldn’t surprise me if your problem is running High Sierra. I hadn’t thought to try Airtable on 10.13, but I’m messing with a Mac Pro I just got that’s on 10.13.6, so if you’d like I could try it this evening and see if I run into the same problems 🤷‍♂️

As Scott mentioned, if it’s possible you really should update at this point, 10.13 isn’t secure and you’ve got to be dealing with a bunch of workarounds to keep it functional at this point. I got my Mac Pro for a song and I just want to tinker with some MacGarden games, not for actual work (and I’m capped at 10.13 because my current video card doesn’t support Metal). Depending on your device, you could also look into OpenCore Legacy Patcher to update Macs past Apple’s defined limits.

​@TheTimeSavingCo I emailed Airtable support, and they recommended deleting and doing a fresh install. Sounded like a dumb solution on the surface, however it actually worked! I don’t know why I didn’t try this sooner. So I’m good now! Finally, after months of this annoyance. One thing, I noticed the Mac app v1.6.6 hasn’t been updated since Jan. 2025 😩

​@ScottWorld You’re correct, however updating my macOS is not an option for me as I have some legacy apps that will get broken. Besides, I’ve pretty much hated every single macOS release since High Sierra.

​@DisraeliGears01 I’m on the final release of Ventura v13.6.7, not High Sierra v10.13.x. It generally runs fine. See my previous comment.

That’s great to hear that deleting & reinstalling the app solved the problem!

It’s too late to test it now, but I’m curious if the reinstallation simply had the same effect as choosing the “clear cache and reload” option that I mentioned above.

It’s disappointing to hear that they haven’t updated the app since January 2025, although it’s probably not a big deal since the Mac app is primarily just a web wrapper for the Airtable.com website — so you’re still getting all the new features & bug fixes that Airtable releases every week.

But hopefully they’re keeping up with all the macOS updates to stay compatible with future macOS releases, and also to take advantage of all the newest macOS technologies.

​@airship Ah, sorry, suppose I just have High Sierra on the brain. Funny enough though because I was curious, I just got done downloading and it does indeed still work on 10.13.6. Probably better to use than the Momiji browser tbh if I want to do Airtable stuff on the Mac Pro.
