Merge Similar Cells?

Can I merge cells?

For example, I am using a base to schedule volunteers and manage their training, progress, etc. I have several cells that are the same value for several rows, but only in certain fields/columns (similar to https://9to5google.com/2011/09/21/new-google-docs-feature-merging-spreadsheet-cells-vertically/ - the conference and division columns)

This is an easy task in Excel or Sheets, but I do not see those basic functions on Airtable - maybe I am missing something obvious, or they do not include them for a reason.

Thanks in advance for your help!

I’m having a hard time visualizing what you are trying to do.

Is this something grouping records would help with?

Thanks for the reply! I edited the post to remove the confusing explanation and included a link.

I think you are right - grouped records may be the way to go! Thank you!
