Need to KEEP spaces in otherwise empty text fields

For various reasons, I sometimes need to have long text fields that contain spaces with no other characters. I've been doing this for over a year without any issues. But in the past 2 weeks, it seems like Airtable has stopped recognizing these "space only" strings in long text fields. If I enter any number of spaces or non-breaking spaces into a long text field with no other text, Airtable just deletes it when I leave the field.

Here's an example from an older table where it worked (the "length" fields are just len(fieldName) so you can see that it's there):

But this is what I'm getting now:

I would greatly appreciate any ideas or suggestions!

Thanks,

Dorothy

Hmm if it helps, the space is still recognized for long text fields that have rich text formatting toggled on?
