I’m keeping track of some social media captions in my Airtable base but every time I copy and paste into Airtable I get a prompt to update saved password. It’s quite annoying to have to minimize the window each time I paste something. Is there a way to disable that pop up?

Hi @DinaSorrenti,
This does not look like an issue with Airtable but rather the browser you're using - the procedure might vary based on your browser.
Here's a breakdown of how to adjust pop-up settings in a few common web browsers:

For Google Chrome:

  1. Open Chrome.
  2. Click on the three vertical dots in the top-right corner to open the menu.
  3. Select "Settings."
  4. Scroll down and click on "Privacy and security" in the left sidebar.
  5. Under "Privacy and security," click on "Site settings."
  6. Scroll down and click on "Pop-ups and redirects."
  7. Toggle the switch to allow or block pop-ups as desired.

For Mozilla Firefox:

  1. Open Firefox.
  2. Click on the three horizontal lines in the top-right corner to open the menu.
  3. Select "Options."
  4. In the left sidebar, click on "Privacy & Security."
  5. Scroll down to the "Permissions" section.
  6. Find "Block pop-up windows" and click on the "Exceptions..." button if you want to allow pop-ups from specific sites.

For Microsoft Edge:

  1. Open Microsoft Edge.
  2. Click on the three horizontal dots in the top-right corner to open the menu.
  3. Select "Settings."
  4. Scroll down and click on "Cookies, site permissions, and more."
  5. Under "Site permissions," click on "Pop-ups and redirects."
  6. Toggle the switch to allow or block pop-ups as desired.

I hope this helps!

Mine is doing the same thing.  It just started doing it though.  Every time I enter anything it pops up. I followed that suggestion and it did not help.

Same for me, really annoying😠

Same problem. Very annoying when using Airtable to run my compliance audits with external assessors. Chrome solution above does not work. Airtable please fix.

Same here, chrome browser and every time I change data in a cell it comes up with the password update. Cannot stop it from doing it and it's driving me batty as I am trying to get my work done!

Same. Whyyyyyyyyy

I got it to stop!

Apparently, my b/s keyboard without a numlock light indicator was the culprit. I hit the numlock key and no more password prompts! *ugh*

This is happening to me too & the recs haven't worked 🙃

Try downloading the airtable app for desktop! That app solved this issue for me.

You can't disable the pop ups and expect the rest of airtable to work. This is a problem, and from what I can tell, it just started in Sept/Oct of 2023. There's some kind of bug with the latest version of chrome. please fix this, airtable.

We can't disable pop-ups for airtable and expect it to work properly. there needs to be another fix.

I got it to stop!

Apparently, my b/s keyboard without a numlock light indicator was the culprit. I hit the numlock key and no more password prompts! *ugh*

Correction... this 'fix' only lasted a few minutes.

@Alessio How can it not be an Airtable issue? This doesn't happen with any other app I use in Chrome.  It only happens within in random cells  in Airtable. I've followed the steps above for Chrome; we'll see if it works, but wondering if by doing so, I'm blocking any desirable popups from Airtable? I don't think your users should have to do this. Something about your cells is signaling the wrong thing to the browser.

UPDATE: It's not working. I'm getting the prompt again. GRRR.

I am having the same issue in chrome, asks to update password each time I update a record.

This is currently happening to me and making Airtable unusable. Commenting for a boost and to follow the thread to see if any solutions arise.

Yes this is a problem! Almost every other field it keeps popping up.

Same problem.

Same... commenting in hopes of a fix. I'm on the latest Chrome on Mac and this started for me in October. No other web site does this. Every time I add or modify data in a field in Airtable, it pops up and asks me to save it as a password. There's something about the cells that is triggering the wrong field type in Chrome.

For anyone that hasn't realized this - you can ignore the pop-up (if the box doesn't obscure what you're trying to do) and just keep entering into whatever cells you need to, then dismiss it when you're done (instead of clicking it away every single cell).

It's still nearly unusable.

Try downloading the airtable app for desktop! That app solved this issue for me.

Finally tried this approach a few days ago. So far, has solved issue. Thanks for the tip! Sure does leave a bad feeling about the app, though...

Way to force app downloads, Airtable.

I have had to do this as well-- really frustrating for the browser version to essentially force an application download instead. Hopefully, Airtable will make sure all versions are accessible and functional soon 🙃

Yep, same as everyone else. I can't fix it using the recs. Super annoying

This is happening to me too.  It's making Airtable unusable.
